Mobile payment technology has not taken hold as fast as some had expected, but for the refreshment services industry, it could have a major impact, considering the ease by which consumers can order products from a market without needing a payment kiosk.
Various mobile app based market systems have been introduced in the last year. One of the more established such offerings is Lane Jumper, a system developed by a micro market operator, Miguel Florez, who was seeking a more cost efficient solution.
A&R Services, a Monument, Colo.-based vending company, has been testing Lane Jumper in government buildings, warehouses, call centers, banks and other customer sites. Company chief operating officer John Kearns believes so strongly in the technology that he has taken a position with Lane Jumper as national sales manager.

On Track Innovations Ltd., a provider of near field communication and cashless payment solutions, has released GoBox, a machine-to-machine cashless payment and telemetry gateway.
GoBox's integration is designed for unattended machine operators who require a modular M2M gateway with enough processing power to stream full-HD media and run either Linux or Android.
The combination of powerful processing and HDMI allows operators to take advantage of the latest marketing technology, such as point-of-sale video advertising, location based promotions and loyalty campaigns. GoBox provides several communication options including Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and Ethernet.
Standard Change-Makers has created a cost effective solution for older bill acceptors.
Standard Change-Makers Inc. has combined the security of the SC60 Series cabinets and the reliability of System 600 coin hoppers with the new SC-Conversion Kit and a down-stacking MEI bill acceptor for $1 to $20 bill acceptance, with the model #SC62-SCC (front load) and SC22RL-SCC (rear load).
By replacing the System 600-EF bill acceptor and separating stacker from the base models and integrating the SC-Conversion Kit with the MEI bill acceptor, the company has created a more cost effective solution for the older, familiar models.
