Greetings to all! We have just completed a powerful and wonderful week of Camp Meeting at Dogwood Valley Camp last month.  With the ministry team of Bro. Nathan Scoggins, Chris Green, and Bro. & Sis. Hyden we were blessed from the youngest to the oldest.  Thirty plus people received their first Pentecostal "outpouring" of the Holy Ghost.  A great amount of attendants received a refilling and renewing of their experience with God.  It was truly a wonderful visitation and demonstration of the power of God with us each day and night.

Kudos to the DVC team, Bro. Russell Garrett (Business Manager), Ron Ens (Building Committee Chairman) and the host of volunteers that they supervised and made our renovated tabernacle a possibility bringing it to a useable stage for Camp Meeting.  What a great improvement!  During the week, the great people of the British Columbia District responded as they usually do with a tremendous pledge offering of over $73,000.00 to help us finish the building and cover the cost overruns from the project.  Hats off to the BC/NWT people who always comes through.

District Conference was completed on the Monday of Camp Meeting, July 17, 2017, with some changes.  The following are the elected officers for the next two years.

Albert Foster - District Secretary/ Treasurer
Jason McLaughlin - BC North American Missions Director
Anthony Ens - BC North American Missions Secretary (for
                            1 year)
Devon Katerberg - Sunday School Secretary
Andon Dillon - Youth Secretary
Leanne Garrett - Ladies Ministries Secretary
Heath MacDonald - Apostolic Man Secretary
F.W. Mason - Ministers Appeal Council Nominee

Special mention to Bro. Phil Lemke, our outgoing BC NAM Director, who has done a tremendous job leading this department and ministry.  Thank you Bro. Lemke for your efforts on the behalf of our church planters and missionaries in BC.

Looking forward, BC Purpose Institute's 2017/2018 school year is beginning in September.  At Camp Meeting we honoured our 2-year certificate graduates and we would like to encourage you to be a part of this year's student body in one of the three campuses across our District.

General Conference is coming up on September 26-29 at the Kansas City Convention Center in Kansas City, Missouri.  This will be followed by BC Ministers Retreat on November 1-3 with some arriving early (October 31) for planning session.  The Filipino Evangelism Conference is presently scheduled for December 1-2.  There will be updates on all of these events as we move forward.

2017 has been a great year of advancement thus far and we are expecting God to continue His blessing as we continue to advance throughout this year.

May God Richly Bless You,

At District Conference this year we transitioned our Constitution and By-Laws to the new Societies Act.  Every society in BC must transition by November 2018 or they will lose their society status which will result in revocation of charity status by Charities Directorate.  The governing documents that we passed at conference were prepared and approved by our society's solicitor.  I have received many telephone calls before and after conference about the transition.  As a result, I will endeavour to give you information so that you can work on your Constitution and By-Laws.  I have three attachments as follows: "Preparing for B.C.'s New Society Act," "New Societies Act: Impact on Pre-Existing Societies" and a summary.  As you work through the paperwork you can use the District one as an example template, but you must modify your own.  The big change is that the constitution is now a separate document from the by-laws and the constitution can only have your name and purpose(s), nothing else.  The current purpose(s) that will go into your constitution cannot be changed until the transition is passed, which is why we passed a resolution to add the camp to our purposes after the transition was approved.  Wading through the rules, etc. is not pleasant, but must be done.  When reviewing our by-laws as a template please look at article IX "Provisions From The Society's Pre-Transition Constitution."  This is what is called the Non Profit Clause and the CRA will look for this, because once you have transitioned you must send a copy of the transitioned constitution and by-laws to the Charities Directorate.  I trust this will be helpful, and yes, you can do it on your own.  But if you're not sure, please seek legal advice.

God Bless,

Albert Foster

Hello Campers,

As the summer season heads into its final weeks, we can say this year has been a solid rental season.  We have seen the interest arise among rental groups and we have new groups renting this year and in 2018.  In fact, we have a rental group waiting list beginning on certain weekends.

The work on the tabernacle has slowed over the rental season due to groups being on site as well as our volunteers simply need a break after six months of using much of our available time to get the Tabernacle ready for Camp Meeting.  Before the year is out, we hope to complete the Heat/AC system as well as the remaining finishing inside and out.  It certainly is beautiful and we are grateful for the many hands that made this possible. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

This year we had a wonderful Lot Lease Holder BBQ and were joined by some new lot lease holders.  As well, we have seen more new lot lease holders secure lots.  New interest in lot leases has increased and we have few left for those interested in joining the small community of Lot Lease Holders at DVC.  We hope to see this community grow and increase in activities as they make lot improvements and spend their vacation time on the camp grounds.  Let me know if you have any interest in the remaining lots and securing a life time lease.

As we move forward with current needs and future building projects it is important for all of you to know that our greatest need is help.  If you have strength, talents, and/or time we will look for a way to slot you in.  Please don't just wait for us to announce a big work day or some specific need.  We will certainly do that when required, but, what we truly need is help all year round.  There are always projects that need attention.  Right now, we need jobs that require labourers, as well as some that could use handyman and contractor quality skills.

As far as additional improvements this year, we will be connecting to the water system this Fall and are looking to install the on-demand water heating system in the bathrooms.  This will give us a more stable water source and will provide us with a more consistent and sustainable water heating system in the bathrooms.

Looking forward to continuing to develop the camp as we are able.  We are currently making places to create our land use plan and firm up what development will look like in years to come.

Blessings,
Russell Garrett
DVC Business Manager
