How do we make sense of the Trump administration's approach to refugees and immigrants? How can the history of Latin American migration to the United States help us understand and respond to current immigration and refugee proposals? Please join us for a lecture and discussion exploring the migration history of the twentieth century Americas which will challenge participants to reexamine commonly-held assumptions about American and Latin American History.

Dr. Carl Lindskoog teaches courses in Latin American, African American, and United States history at Raritan Valley Community College. A specialist in immigration, race, and ethnicity in the United States and Latin America, he is completing a book entitled Haitian Refugees and the Rebirth of Immigrant Detention in the United States, 1973-2000.
