January, 2017

Happy New Year!
I love January. It provides time to reflect, regroup, and set goals for the year ahead. El Nino is officially over, and a colder month than usual is predicted. The good news is that we are gaining more daylight every day, and by the end of this month, we'll have an additional 49 minutes of daylight to enjoy, or a total of ten hours. A little more daylight helps us all look past this hibernation period and ahead to the growing season!

In the meantime, cozy up by the fire with your list of resolutions and plans to make this your Best Year Ever. Check out our great book recommendations and an upcoming native plant conference for inspiration. We are also featuring a portable fire log concept, and even a hearty stew recipe to help keep you cozy this month.

Our offices will be closed through January 15th while we regroup, and while we attend the Northern Green Expo. We resume our designing and planting plan activities on January 16th.  Our winter office hours are 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

We are here to help you make 2017 a year to bring more harmony with the natural world into your life, in practical ways. Adding just one new environmentally-friendly discipline or technique to your everyday life might be easier than you think. Reach out and let us know how we can help!

~ Heath and happiness to all of you in this New Year!~

OneLogFire - An awesome tabletop campfire
This portable, quick start fire log safely burns from the inside, for a perfect fire in the fireplace, or for a backyard or lakeside bonfire. Inspired by the Swedish torch concept, the logs have a hole in the middle to ensure two hours of splendid burn time. Harvested from Minnesota forests, the logs are meticulously kiln-dried and cut. A non-toxic fire starter on its side provides quick lighting. The handy handle on top makes it easy for anyone to carry to your next gathering around the fire.

We are excited to offer this as a part of our innovative product collection at Growhaus! Contact us by writing: [email protected], or call 763-420-2909 to order.

Recipe of the Month
Rustic Pork, Bean & Vegetable Stew
Warm your spirits on cold winter nights!

Our friend Michele Phillips, the creator of BaconFatte.com, offers a delicious, big batch recipe for a hearty pork, bean and vegetable stew. Make it without meat by adding more beans, greens or mushrooms. Or use turkey or ham instead of pork for the protein. This versatile recipe leaves room for your own interpretations, so you can use what you have on hand with confidence. A perfect solution to What's for Dinner any day of the week!

Check out Michele's blog, and let her know how you like this recipe!
