MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. MARCH and FESTIVAL Monday, January 16 Step-off at 9:00 a.m.; meet at 8:15 a.m.
see MARCH DETAILS under the photo
"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." - Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Letter from Birmingham Jail
Join Rabbi Sharfman at the annual Martin Luther King Jr. March and Festival
Families with older children are especially encouraged to take advantage
of this opportunity to "pray with their feet"*
*After marching with the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. in the historic 1965 march from Selma to Montgomery, Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel commented,
"I felt my feet were praying."
Congregation Kehillah will walk with the
Arizona Faith Network , an organization created to bring together people of faith through civil discourse and community initiatives. Rabbi Sharfman is a board member of AFN and a founding member of AFN's Uniting Faiths of America campaign, which was created in December 2016 in response to the significant rise in hate crimes and hate-filled rhetoric taking place across our country and appearing on social media over the past 18 months, as reported by the FBI and law enforcement.
For more information about the Arizona Faith Network's Uniting Faiths of America campaign, see the organization's press release and statement signed by 145 faith leaders
here.
Rabbi Sharfman is pictured in the photo below, at the far left.
MARCH DETAILS
- Meet at 8:15 a.m. at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, 1401 E. Jefferson St., Phoenix, AZ 85034.
- Look for the AFN banner, "Uniting Faiths of Arizona."
- We step off at 9:00 a.m.
- The March is a gentle two-mile walk, ending at Margaret T. Hance Park (location of free Festival).
- For more information about the March and Festival, click here.
Please email Renee at [email protected] to let her know you will be participating with Rabbi Sharfman!
