This Weekend's Music Lineup
This Friday evening (5-8 PM) honky tonk singer/songwriter Fizz Kizer returns to the Rookery for the second time this summer. Always an audience favorite, Fizz especially loves writing and playing songs about the outdoors. His debut album, The River Road, featured stories about the rivers and streams he's known. More recently Fizz recorded a second full length effort of all original songs entitled, In A Honkytonk Glow.
Then on Sunday afternoon (2-5 PM) we welcome a first time band out of Washburn to the Rookery stage. Actually half the members of this quartet performed at the Rookery on our busiest night of the summer two weeks ago. They were a big hit that Friday evening as the Blong Boys. This time they'll be accompanied by a couple of buddies under the moniker, Dirty Magic.
If you're curious to learn more about this relatively new quartet and Google Dirty Magic, you'll likely stumble across a band out of Tucson, Arizona that plays "Hardcore Punk and Desert Rock." This ain't them! Dirty Magic of the Northwoods performs an electrified version of the jazzy, bluesy acoustic music that Rookery guests so raved about two weeks ago.
It's looking as though it will be a beautiful Friday evening for live outdoor music. While the Sunday forecast currently isn't looking so promising, as always we'll bring things indoors if the weather doesn't cooperate. Either way, it's gonna be fun!
