Next Seven Days
Month of Musical Masterworks
Sunday, August 27,
10:00 a.m. worship service
This Sunday marks the fourth week in our Month of Musical Masterworks - major instrumental works presented during the 10 o'clock worship service as Prelude, Offertory, and Postlude. This week we hear the Sinfonia Concertante for flute, clarinet, and orchestra, by German composer Franz Danzi. Flutist Eileen Grycky and clarinetist Christopher Nichols, both outstanding performers and members of the music faculty at the University of Delaware, will be joining "orchestral organist" Paul Fleckenstein for this unique collaboration. Note: The first movement of the work (Prelude to the service) begins before 10:00 a.m., so come early!

Celebration & Festival
Sunday, September 10,
11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Celebrate the new program year by feeding your mind, body and soul! After worship on September 10 (one service at 10:00 a.m.), there will be a brief gathering in Community Hall to celebrate the 40th year of Greg's ministry. Then stick around to purchase lunch at one of our guest food trucks on 13th Street, catch up with friends, play a game of 9-square, or take a guided tour of the church. The hardest thing you'll do all day is decide what to do first. We are seeking volunteers to help with children's activities. If interested, please contact tara.hoopes@verizon.net or sign up at the front desk after worship.
Know Your Church
Sunday, September 10, 12:00 noon and 1:00 p.m.
Who plays the bells you hear from the tower, and where do they go to do it? Why does that window look out on a stone wall? How old is this place anyway? Learn more about your church building by taking a guided architectural building tour on September 10 during the 13th Street Food Truck Festival. Stick around after morning worship or come back in the mid-afternoon. Tours will be offered at noon and 1:00 p.m. You are sure to learn something new!

News to Note
With Thanks for Your Generosity!
On behalf of the students at EastSide Charter, Highlands, UrbanPromise and Shortlidge elementary schools, thank you for your support of Westminster's tenth annual 'Backpacks Project'! When we began in 2007, we provided 169 backpacks to local students; this year, our outreach has grown to serve 500 neighborhood school children, including those we host through Family Promise. Your generosity will have a significant impact on the spirit of these students as they begin the new school year with the supplies they need and could not otherwise afford. Thank you so much!
New Sanctuary Exit Routes Diagram
Many of you were present when we experienced a boiler emergency in 2014. Fortunately, people exited without incident. For precautionary reasons, WPC's Security Committee would like you to examine the new exit diagrams found on the inside cover of the red friendship pads, think about your mobility, and become familiar with the quickest and safest routes available (considering where you are seated). We have marked exit routes which do NOT include stairs as FLAT routes; FLAT routes are GREEN. We hope that you will become familiar with the exit routes and revisit them each Sunday as you sign the friendship pads.
