Red Ribbon Week
THIS WEEK is Red Ribbon Week at Bassett! Red Ribbon Week is a national event designed for communities and individuals to take a stand and make a commitment about drug and alcohol prevention. This commitment helps our children know the importance of making healthy choices each and every day.

3rd Grade Testing
3rd grade students will take the
Ohio Reading/Language Arts Assessment on Tuesday, October 24 and Wednesday, October 25.
A letter was sent home and is available

End of 1st quarter
Thursday, October 26 is the last day of the first quarter. Report cards will be sent home on Friday, November 3.
3rd Grade Demon Day
On
Tuesday, October 31, 8:15-10:15 am, our 3rd graders will participate in several exploratory learning activities with a pumpkin theme.

Halloween Celebration
We are looking forward to a fun Halloween celebration at Bassett on Tuesday, October 31, 1:15-2:00 pm. Thank you to our PTA for coordinating the details.
Veterans Day
Bassett is proud to host its 7th annual Veterans Day Recognition Ceremony on Friday, November 10 at 8:45 am. This year's theme is "Veterans: Real American Heroes". Families are welcome to attend.

- The packet includes: 1) a letter that explains the ways in which Bassett students will pay tribute to our veterans, 2) an RSVP form for the ceremony on November 10, and 3) a "Thank You Heroes" home connection activity.
- Photos for "Bassett's Wall of Honor", the RSVP form, and the home connection activity are due by Monday, October 30.

Bassett's 50th Birthday
Bassett's Birthday Bash will celebrate 50 years of learning! Come enjoy party games and birthday cake on
Friday, November 10, 6:00-7:30 pm. An
open house for former students and staff will be held from 5:30-6:00 pm.

Volunteers Needed
Bassett's annual Scholastic Book Fair is coming up November 13-21 in the Bassett library!
Volunteers are needed to help set up the book fair, help students make wish lists, fill wish lists, and help take down the book fair.

FOOD DRIVE UPDATE
Thank you for your generosity!
Thank you to all the Bassett families and staff who donated cereal and oatmeal to the May Dugan/Westlake Assistance food drive! We went over our goal of 400 items and collected a total of 450 items!
Congratulations to our top classrooms! 1)

class: 50 items. 2) Mrs. DeCoste's
class: 43 items. 3) Miss Burke's class: 41 items.
Together we helped "stuff the bus" with a District total of 4,690 items. Thank you again for making this food drive such a success!
