WHAT IS NEW THIS MONTH ON OUR BLOG PAGE?

MAKE-BELIEVE FOR ADULTS
I am pleased to announce that, in the near future, in conjunction with some of my male friends, we will be launching a new program to help other men experience what it is like to give birth. We plan to call it "Baby Maybe." .. . continue

THE NARCOTIC OF HELP
A willingness to help others is a laudable personal quality. We value it in friends and family. We want to develop it in children. It makes us feel better about ourselves. But, it can be like a narcotic for someone who is blind or visually impaired; that is, beneficial under...  continue

NEWS
WHAT IS NEW WITH VISIONARY?
Visionary is a video about Club VIBES made by UT student and Delta Gamma member, Caroline Knight, that is attracting a lot of attention. It has won awards and is being shown at several film festivals including the Nashville Film Festival, Bike Film Fest in New York, and the upcoming Knoxville Film Festival which will be August 26-28. An extra bonus is that these showings of Visionary are also spreading the word about Club VIBES. We are very proud of Caroline's achievements.

TRIP TO DC
Plans are continuing for our upcoming trip to Washington DC. There is still time for
U.S. CAPITAL BUILDING
you to join those going during fall break, October 8-11. Contact Sue if you are not yet on the list but interested in the trip.

AWARD FROM AKIMA
Club VIBES is proud to have been awarded a grant from Akima to be used for
Sarah at Akima luncheon
purchase and maintenance of bicycling equipment. This grant will insure that our bikes are kept in top operating condition and that our members ride with the safety of good helmets and other equipment that they might need.

Sarah Holloway attended the Akima luncheon to accept our award.

Thank you Akima for selecting Club VIBES.

MEMBERS CORNER
KAYAKING AT THE COVE
A way to cool off from the summer heat is to participate in the social kayaking at the Cove Park on
Kayakers
Northshore Dr every Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00pm. Catalyst, an organization promoting adaptive fitness and athletic activities, is participating with Riversports and will have double kayaks available for those with vision or physical disabilities. You must email Leslie at Catalyst to let her know that you wish to attend and sign the online waiver/registration at

INDOOR ROCK CLIMBING CONTINUES
Riversports Outfitters on Sutherland Ave has an indoor rock climbing program for persons with disabilities on the first Saturday of every month from 10:00am until 12:00pm.  There is a $10 fee which covers equipment, coaching and time on the wall. There are scholarships available.  For more information or to register,  click here

FUNDRAISING
A HOT DAY AT THE POOL

It was a hot day, but we cooled off with refreshing dips and floating around on floats in the pool at the beautiful home of Curtis and Margaret Holmes. We enjoyed visiting, swimming, and eating delicious food topped off with peach cobbler and ice cream.

Thank you Curtis and Margaret for hosting Club VIBES.

ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL FUNDRAISER
Thank you to Pero's on the Hill and Rick Thomas at Northshore Wine and Spirits for selecting Club VIBES as the May recipient of their monthly wine tasting charity fundraiser. We had a large turnout of folks enjoy a fun evening while supporting Club VIBES.

CHECK OUT THIS NEW SCIENTIFIC CALCULATOR
The Orion TI-30XS MultiView Talking Calculator is a new, updated scientific calculator available from APH for $399.  Middle and high school students planning to continue onto more advanced math courses might find this helpful. One advantage is that it very closely resembles the TI-84 that other students are using making it easier for teachers and even fellow students to help with learning the use of a new calculator.
