Pirkei Avot
tells us that we should acquire a teacher and that we should acquire a friend. But what if we acquire a wonderful teacher by cutting the class of another teacher? What if we acquire a good and true friend by lying about ourselves when we first meet? Surely, as Machiavelli would tell us, the ends justifies the means and the main thing is to acquire this teacher and friend, right?

Learning From Each Other
Teachers returned to school last week to prepare their classrooms and learn from each other. During the 3 day in-service, staff and faculty were treated to a seminar by keynote speaker Temima Feldman who spoke about building professional learning communities. Everyone got to play a game where the goal was to match all the pieces together. Once completed the puzzle spelled out " You have worked well as a team!". The activity was fun and engaging!

Mystery Bag Game
What mitzvah can you do with every single part of you? Our EC 4 class explored mitzvot that we can do with different parts of our body. We can use our noses for smelling
besamim (havdallah spices
), our eyes for reading the alef bet, our head for learning Torah, our mouth's for smiling and speaking nicely, our hands to light Shabbat candles, our legs for running to help a friend etc. The children looked in the magic bag to find items related to each body part and had a great time pulling a surprise item out.
