HHF-DPA Loan Applications Hit 1000
On August 15th, THDA received the 1000th loan application for the HHF-DPA program, which offers $15,000 in assistance to borrowers in designated zip codes. In anticipation, a prize was offered to the submitting loan officer and processor via the Great Choice TN facebook group.
Congratulations to
Tammy Barr and

- Nontraditional credit files are eligible for THDA financing. Since the borrower does not have a credit score, they will need to provide 3 alternative credit tradelines. The debt ratio is reduced to 36% as well as the borrower must have liquid assets in the bank in amount of 2 months PITIA plus any funds needed to close.
- Want to know if a specific address is in a targeted county, a designated HHF-DPA zip code, or a targeted census tract? Use the interactive map on the website! Color coding makes it easy to see eligible areas. Use the zoom feature to get more details. Enter a specific address in the search bar. To find the map, go to the Lenders and Servicers page and scroll to the bottom for the link. Go directly to the map by clicking here.

In case you haven't melted yet, summer is here and it is HOT. Many of us escape to locales where we can cool our temperatures and our workload as a result, and the temptation to pack up everything run away as fast as possible can be strong. However, it's worth it to stop for just a moment and think about what you can do to make sure a crook doesn't use your home as a destination vacation while you're gone.
Here are some helpful home tips for when you head out of town:
- Ask a trusted neighbor to watch your home. Hopefully you've struck up a friendship with your neighbors; apart from being, well, the neighborly thing to do, there are many benefits to such a relationship.
- See if you can get the Post Office to hold your mail. The easiest way to do this is to go to holdmail.usps.com/holdmail. An overflowing mailbox is a huge signpost that your house ripe for the burgling.
- Here's the big one: the criminals we tangle with today are tech savvy. While on your fabulous vacation, we know that it is incredibly tempting to use your picture-taking Google-machine to post on Instaface, Twitbook, and Grammer (did I get those right?) that you are living it up on the beach for the next two weeks. However, this is exactly what the bad guys are looking for. Regardless of your privacy settings, it's impossible to secure all of your posts on social media for only the audiences you intend. It's best to resist the urge and dump all those photos and stories online once you get back. While we're at it, be careful with all of your social media posts; don't put anything out there that lets people know you are vulnerable in any way.
Home burglaries and vandalism are never your fault. Just make sure you aren't making it any easier! Following these tips will go a long way to keeping the crooks in the dark as to your vacation plans. Have a great summer!
