Beauregard Bellum is having his annual party and is thrilled to boast Lord Nigel Tuttentuttle as a guest. He is accompanied by his half-brother, Nobby from the Australian Outback (recently "inherited" in their late father's will). Beau is so in hopes that all will go well but his immediate family may pose some problems. His sister, Honeysuckle Rose thinks that she is the Egyptian Princess Hatapotsa of the 5th dynasty. As if that weren't enough, Beau never knows how brash and forward his Aunt Magnolia Blossom will be. Their boarder, Carrie Carrot, would, in general be perfectly fine but since she was struck by lightening she has just not been the same. Really, the evening would be a success, even taking into account the excitement over the alligators, but fate has the audacity to throw in two murders and Beau's party takes a decided turn for the worst.
