Grace: It's Our Way of Life
As Episcopal Christians we
Worship at home daily and together weekly; Study the scriptures, our tradition, and what it means to be a disciple today; Serve our families, our parish, and our world in the name of  Christ. Everything we do is done with an ethic of Welcome because we are only here by Grace.
Where have you welcomed,  worshiped, studied or served?

FEAR NOT!
by The Rev. Carlton Kelley

I am posting something that I think bears repeating particularly at this time of some uncertainty. Remember: Fear Not! May your life be full of the blessings of God as you seek to live into the fullness of Christ's redeeming love.

I have been asked to post the "Seven Questions every church should ask" which formed the basis for my sermon on Sunday, June 26, 2016. These questions were taken from the January 8, 2012 Anglican Journal and written by the Canadian priest, the Rev Dr. Gary Nicolosi.

Please bear in mind, as Fr. Nicolosi says, that some questions are "so full of complexity that no adequate answer is possible, but that does not prevent us from considering multiple perspectives..."  click here to read more...

FAREWELL TO THE REV. CARLTON KELLEY
Special coffee hours this weekend!
Please join us after each service

This weekend we say farewell to Carlton and Don, with gratitude for their faithfulness to their call to serve at Grace.  We send them out again to serve in Pennsylvania with our blessings and our prayers for safe travels and much joy in their new home and parish.

If you are planning to pass along a gift or card to Carlton, be sure to drop it off by Sunday. Carlton will depart for Pennsylvania on Monday morning!

MUSIC AT 10
We welcome Julia Hogan as our guest musician this morning.  Julia is a part of our parish here at Grace and can often be heard as a part of Grace Harmony. A former hospice nurse, Julia now makes her living as a massage therapist.  What most people don't know is that Julia has spent a portion of her life singing and recording praise music as a vocalist.  We appreciate the gift she shares with us today!

The Emotional Intelligence of Jesus:
An in-depth seminar with Roy Oswald
Sept. 28, 2017
9:30 am to 3:30 pm
Walk with author, trainer, and EQ (emotional quotient, or emotional intelligence) guru Roy Oswald on an exploration of the emotional intelligence of Jesus and how it can transform the work of faith leaders and churches at the St. Francis Retreat Center in Dewitt, MI.  Roy will guide participants to:

  • Notice what Jesus taught about EQ
  • Identify EQ skills faith leaders need to sustain excellence in ministry
  • Consider EQ skills clergy need to teach their people along with what Jesus advocated
  • Discuss the importance of EQ for church leaders-without it their ministry will rarely fly
  • Learn how to select people with high EQ skills for church and ministry leadership
  • Develop strategies to impart EQ skills to faith leaders and impact the system with EQ
  • Unpack Jesus' teaching of the Kingdom of Heaven and how we move in and out of Kingdom of Heaven space. To arrive in this space and be conscious of it requires EQ. This is central to our growth as Christians.
  • Explore the Johari window as a way to develop the capacity to broaden the open space between us, the space where Jesus meets us.

What's Happening in our Diocese?

Turn in your Oleson's receipts to benefit the Grace Food Pantry!

Oleson's Community Share Program

Here's how it works:
  1. You shop at Oleson's for groceries (liquor sales do not qualify for points)
  2. Turn in your receipts to the church.  Look for the envelope on the bulletin board in the Parish Hall, and place your receipts inside it.
  3. We submit receipts back to Oleson's
  4. We are granted cash rewards for the food pantry ($1 spent on groceries = 1 cent in Community Share points)

For every $5000 in receipts we submit, we receive $50 in cash for our food pantry.  Every little bit helps!

Thank you for participating!
