TOKLAT GALLERY

Hello My Friends,

In September 2004 when I knew my mother and I would be leaving Ashcroft in a year's time, I commissioned a book about Toklat. The leave taking, which should have been smooth and painless, was not.  My mother died in January 2006 and the book got sidelined. Like fine wine, it sat in a cool and dark place for a decade, until I dusted it off in 2016 and handed it to an editor. While he was editing, I was thinking out loud about illustrating, and thus was born the gift of the funds to have my father's photographic work scanned. Ever since that awesome offer, it has been a cascading series of events. Trips to the Aspen Historical Society for help in creating a spread sheet for the archiving and multiple
phone calls to the computer tech, all in concert with the person who will be doing the scanning, I am finally set up to do the archiving process here in the gallery. It's daunting. It's also exhilarating and has sent me on so many flights down memory lane. I have 70 years (June 2019) of stories to tell, memories and so many photos to share, and thoughts about my part in this history - way too much to be contained in the Newsletter. For all of that I will be starting a blog.

As for the Newsletter, it will henceforth be about the gallery only - mostly photos of new art, events, specials, and an occasional cutsie one of "the kiddiewinks!"
