Variety Stag: September 7
Gather your friends, colleagues and clients and join us for the 10th annual men's only event, Variety Stag. It will be a great evening for sampling wine, craft beer and spirits. Volunteer Opportunities  

September 7: Variety Stag 
Stag is a men's only event that focuses on hunting, fishing and golf.  Volunteers, both male and female, are needed to assist with stuffing bags, set up, check-in, help during the event and tear down. Sign up  here.   
 
Nov. 10 - 11: Iowa's Premier Beer, Wine, & Food Expo
Volunteers are needed at the Beer, Wine, & Food Show to help bring wine to attendee's cars and assist by being stage hands (pouring beer/wine samples, handing out food samples). Meet some interesting people and help generate revenue for Young Variety. After your shift stay and enjoy one of the best wine and beer shows in the state! Sign up here.

Mobility for All

Specialized Bikes
Every child deserves to ride and this month several children received specialized bikes! Congrats to our newest Variety kids, Ryan (pictured) and Rodney.   
 
Gait Trainer  
In addition to our specialized bikes, Variety awarded a gait trainer to Camden. The trainer will help Camden learn to walk independently. 
 
Star Playgrounds
As crews are putting the finishing touches on the Variety Star Playground in Cedar Rapids' Noelridge park, Variety is kicking off a new campaign to build our 3rd Variety Star Playground in Des Moines' Riverview Park. Learn more about Variety's all-inclusive playgrounds.

Leinenkugel Golf Invitational 
Thank you to all who attended the Leinenkugel Golf Invitational on August 15 at Elmcrest Country Club. More than $40,000 was raised to support Variety's mission of improving the lives of underprivileged, at-risk and special needs children. Highlights of the event included
Jasmine's specialized bike presentation.  

2017 9-Bar Open Presented By Miller Lite
The annual Miller Lite 9-Bar Open is just around the corner! Get your team together and join us on Saturday, September 16, in Cedar Falls for a day of mini golf. Teams are 4 players each and cost $200 per team or $50 per person. Shotgun start begins at 9:30am at your home bar (the one you signed up in) and you will travel to 8 additional locations. Each location will have a mini golf hole. All proceeds benefit Variety. Learn about the 9-Bar Open here.

Two Days of Compassion
   
Save the date(s) for Two Days of Compassion! Each year Variety  raises funds for critically ill children who are hospitalized. Through a partnership with Iowa hospitals, the Compassion Fund assists critically ill children and their families by providing comfort, care and fulfilling immediate needs such as:        
  • A gas card for frequent travel to appointments
  • Meals for a parent who spends weeks at the hospital
  • Payment of immediate bills such as phone or electricity
