Thin is in when it comes to cell phones and laptops (and pizza crust, if you live anywhere except Chicago). But paper-thin walls are certainly not on anyone's wish list, least of all, prospective buyers of new homes.
Drywall manufacturers know this as well as anyone in the industry. Over the years, they've made significant innovations, some of which can be seen in The New American Remodeled Home when it debuts early next month during the 2017 International Builders' Show.

The project involved gutting a large, yet typical 1980s-style home and transforming it into an award-winning example of the latest in green building.  It's a perfect opportunity to showcase some high-end drywall, all of which was provided by Certainteed. Though the home's drywall might be easily overlooked amidst the many other elements of energy efficiency on display, industry pros who tour the home at IBS will surely recognize the difference.

2017 Legislative Session begins in April and will mainly deal with tax issues. Legislators can also file five non-fiscal, general bills.  There are rumblings of an impending special session due to the current funding gap in the budget. Two special sessions were called in 2016 because tax legislation cannot legally be heard in a general session.

Many taxes will be up for discussion again in the coming months.  More deliberation will take place not only on sales taxes but also on tax exemptions, gasoline, income and processing taxes. LHBA will inform our members of any tax changes and voice our concerns on harmful legislative tax changes.

BUILD-PAC'S NEW "FAIR SHARE" PROGRAM

BUILD-PAC's new Fair Share campaign is the easiest way to get involved in the political process. We are asking every member to do their Fair Share for the housing industry by contributing just $25 to BUILD-PAC during the 2015-2016 election cycle.

What would happen if every NAHB member did their Fair Share?
If every member does their Fair Share and invests a minimum of $25, then BUILD-PAC will be a $3.5 Million PAC. This would allow BUILD-PAC and housing to have an even greater impact in the 2016 elections.

What is my Fair Share going toward?
Your contribution helps elect pro-housing, pro-business candidates who will support our issues and fight for housing in Congress.

How can I help with the Fair Share campaign?
Please help your state meet its goal. During your state and local meetings back home, ask your peers to do their Fair Share for housing by contributing just $25 to BUILD-PAC in this election cycle. If every member does their Fair Share, then BUILD-PAC's voice will be LOUDER and STRONGER than ever before.

Questions? For more information contact BUILD-PAC staff.
