News & Updates
Who's Who and What's New in the Region 12 GenEd Department
ESC Region 12 would like to introduce Tammy Becker as the new Director of General Education Services. Tammy has been in education 25 years and served as a principal in Belton ISD before coming to ESC Region 12 three years ago. Here's a short note from Tammy:

The start of a new school year has been my favorite time of year as long as I can remember. It's a professional "new year's eve" of sorts. As educators, we've reflected on the past year, celebrated our successes, and set goals for the upcoming year. The start of a school year holds such promise, such hope, and such responsibility. I've just completed my 25th year in education, and I'm as excited to begin this year as any other.
In my new role as Director of General Education Services, I look forward to partnering with each of you as you work with your campus leaders and teams of teachers to meet the goals for your new year.

Active Learning is a critical component of modern learning and focuses on increasing student cognitive engagement in the classroom. A key to successful implementation is attendance at professional development that allows for voice and choice in session selection based on current readiness to create an Active Learning environment. This PD will be delivered through the Active Learning Institute Student Engagement Network (ALISEN). ALISEN allows teachers to approach Active Learning instruction through the lenses of pedagogy, action research, technology or a combination. Click to see the upcoming ALISEN sessions.
