Back to School:
Learning Isn't Just for Kids

Education doesn't stop once you've graduated from school. Here at Cranberry Library, we're big believers in lifelong learning. In fact, it's one of our core beliefs and we're happy to provide resources to encourage and help in the pursuit of it! 

In addition to books, DVDs, and audio items on every subject imaginable, we also offer free online resources to help with whatever you're curious about. Featured here are just a sampling of those resources that are available to you, free, with your Cranberry Public Library card!

Mango Languages prepares learners for realistic conversations and strengthens everyday communication skills in over 70 world languages, including English.

TERC (Testing & Education Reference Center) provides a wealth of information not only on high school and college prep, but it also offers resume building and career resources. 

Consumer Health Complete  allows consumers convenient access to easily understandable health and medical information.  Search and browse medical encyclopedias, popular reference books, and magazine articles.

  Ancestry Library Edition assists the amateur genealogist in climbing their family tree. Provides access to census records, birth and death certificates, and much more.

Computer Troubleshooting Class
Saturday, September 2 @ 9AM
Would you like to know what to do when your computer crashes or becomes verrrry slow? Just what kind of maintenance should you be doing, or not doing, which is even more important? Computer expert Greg DiFiore will give us some tips (in plain English) on best practices for your computer. Registration is required.

Roberto Clemente Museum Presentation
Tuesday, September 5 @ 6PM
Sponsored by the Friends of Cranberry Library, Vince Mariotti from the Roberto Clemente Museum in Lawrenceville will discuss how the current owner restored the old firehouse and started the museum which houses the world's largest collection of Pittsburgh Pirate's legend Roberto Clemente memorabilia, including documents, letters, and awards. Mariotti will also discuss the life of Clemente both on and off of the field. Registration is required. 

eBooks & eReaders Class
Saturday, September 9 @ 9AM
This class will focus on how to obtain free eBooks on your eReader from Cranberry Public Library and Overdrive. Join us for an introduction to eReader and eBook terminology, learn about the  3 Ps, and get a live demonstration of Overdrive. Registration is required.

In conjunction with the Cranberry Township Historical Society, we're pleased to  welcome Mr. Bill Fronczek of the PA Trolley Museum. The program is free to attend, but a $2 donation is suggested and will go towards the restoration of Car 115. Registration is required.

Babies and their caregivers share smiles, stories, and more at storytime for our littlest readers. Recommended for ages birth - 18 months.


A-B-C Come Read With Me Storytime

Listen to stories, sing songs, make a craft, and have a ton of fun at this storytime! Recommended for ages 19 months through preschool aged. Please register for only 1 session, they repeat on each day/time.

Play-K
Thursdays, September 21 & October 19
4:30-5:30PM
Ages 4 1/2 - 6 are welcome to join us for this new program where kids can play their way to school success! Each session will feature different activities that are aligned with the PA Learning Standards and kindergarten readiness skills. This program is funded by a grant from The Office of Commonwealth Libraries. Online registration is required.

Homeschool Crafternoon
Thursday, September 14 & October 12 from 1-2 PM
For children ages 6-11. Stop by to make a craft at the tables in the Children's Department. Leave when you've finished the craft or stay and hang out with other homeschoolers. This is a drop in program, no registration is required.

1st - 6th Grade LEGO Club
Tuesday, September 19 & October 17 from 4-5PM
Join Ms. Janae in the Children's Department on the third Tuesday of each month to work on the challenge of the month or just to free building with other LEGO enthusiasts. This is a drop in program, no registration is required.

Drop-In STEAM Lab
Thursdays, September 28 & October 26 from 4-5PM
Create, learn, and explore during this drop in program with a focus on science, technology, engineering, arts, and/or math -- STEAM! All ages welcome. 

1st - 3rd Grade Book Club
Wednesdays, October 4, 11, 18, & 25 from 6:30-7PM
Kids will meet each Wednesday in October to read and then do an activity or craft related to the book of the month. Books will be provided at each meeting. Online registration is required.

Tail Waggin' Tutors
Thursday, October 5 from 5:30-6:30PM
For elementary aged children. Practice reading with one of our dog tutors. Online registration is required for a 20 minute reading session.

4th - 6th Grade DIY Club
Thursdays, September 7 & October 5 from 4-5PM
Stop by the Young Adult section to create, make, invent, experiment, or build with Ms. Janae. This is a drop in program. No registration required.

Teen DIY Club
Thursdays, September 14 & October 12 from 4-5PM
A different Do It Yourself project will be featured each session. Stop by the Young Adult section and see what we're makin' this month! No registration is required.

Teen Advisory Board (TAB)
Mondays, September 18, October 2 & 16 from 4-5PM
For 6th-12th graders. Be an important part of your community by helping to plan and run library events for kids and teens! TAB members also give Ms. Janae their input for new purchases for the library. Teens receive volunteer hours for all TAB events. No registration required.

Fandom Club
Wednesdays, September 20 & October 18 from 5-6PM
Get in touch with your geeky side. Are you a fan of books, TV shows, video games? Come share with other teens at Fandom Club. For 7th-12th grades, no registration required.

Grab a friend or two and join Ms. Janae after hours in the library! We'll watch a movie, enjoy some snacks and play games. Online registration is required. (There must be a minimum of 5 teens registered.)

4th - 6th Grade Book Club

We'll read together each week and then do an activity or craft related to the book of the month. Books will be provided at each club meeting. Online registration is required; minimum of 5 participants required.

Tween Lock-In
Saturday, October 13 from 6-9PM
Calling all 4th-6th graders -- bring your friends and join Ms. Janae after hours in the library. We'll watch a movie, play games, and have snacks. Online registration is required and there must be a minimum of 5 tweens registered for the program to take place.
