West Shore Drive to close after Labor Day
West Shore Drive will close north of Hankins Drive after Labor Day for landslide mitigation.
The work is scheduled to begin after Labor Day to accommodate visitors to the area during the holiday weekend. West Shore Drive was weight limited to 10 tons at the Hankins Road landslide starting in February, due to further settlement of the road.
Only one traffic lane has been open since July 2015. Weight limiting the road helped to avoid a full closure. Washington County Department of Land Use & Transportation Operations and Maintenance Division crews and park rangers monitor the site so that any sudden changes can be addressed immediately.   Media release
