Lovejoy High School

A Message from the Principal

Lovejoy HS News 08 21 17

Parents and Guardians,

Happy 1st Day of School! Whether this was your student's first day of high school, first day of their Senior year, or somewhere in-between, I truly hope that you and your student had a great day.

One of my favorite things about our first day of school is the Senior Breakfast and Senior Walk. The event is a great way to honor our Seniors, and this morning was no exception. Lovejoy parents are an amazing group who give their time and resources so that our students have an incredible experience. I want to say a special "Thank You" to all who helped make this morning such a memorable one.

Another unique thing about today was the opportunity to view a solar eclipse. We rotated sending students out into the courtyard between 12:45 and 1:35 to get a chance to view the event. We had certified safety eclipse eyeware for students and took multiple opportunities to share the procedure for safely viewing the event. Students really appreciated the chance to see it, and I doubt they will forget their first day of school in 2017-18.

As you visit with your students tonight, please don't hesitate to share with us any concerns you may have, or positive feedback to know what we are doing is working. Student principals and counselors are:

Bruce Coachman - [email protected] - Assistant Principal for Academic Support of students whose last name begins with the letters A-K
Julie Hirsh - [email protected]  - Assistant Principal for Academic Support of students whose last name begins with the letters L-Z

Nancy Schweikhard - [email protected] - Counselor for students whose last name begins with letters P-Z

With the start of school comes many events and lots of details to share with you (including a Digital Bootcamp for our 9th and 10th graders tomorrow during school). Please take a few minutes to review the email below to ensure you have all the information you need.

Sincerely,

Chris Mayfield
Principal
