Monday, January 16 is our federal holiday honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., with celebrations and service opportunities around West Contra Costa County.
Dr. King's tireless struggle for civil rights and economic justice changed the world for the better. Unfortunately, we still have lots of work to do in order to achieve true equality and justice in our country.
We must continue to advance the work of Dr. King to reject intolerance, violence, hate and injustice. I'm deeply committed to working with our community in the spirit of Dr. King.
Let's start with participating in one of these inspiring MLK Day events:

The Watershed Project will host the Bay Trail Clean Up at Stege Marsh from
9 am to noon.
Meet at the entrance to the Bay Trail (near South 51st St. and Bayview Ave.)
BONUS: The Watershed Project will also host a tree planting event the following Saturday, January 21, from 9 am to 1 pm. Meet at Boorman Park, S. 25th St. and Maine Ave in Richmond. For more info, contact: jennies@thewatershedproject.org.
