LFHS Guitar Making & Technique Class to Host Community Gala

LFHS Applied Technology and Music Departments would like to invite the community to the

Guitar Making & Technique Class Community Gala
Thursday, January 19, 2017
7:00pm-8:00pm
LFHS Commons
1285 N. McKinley Rd., Lake Forest, IL

As part of the class, students created their own electric guitars and would like to share their work with the LFHS families and the larger community. Some students have prepared a musical piece to perform at the gala, as well.

Throughout the semester, students have created this instrument from scratch - beginning with a few blocks of wood and transforming it into a fully functioning electric guitar or bass. While many of the students had little woodworking background, they learned to program the CNC router to cut out their guitar body, shape and finish, prep and paint, fret the neck, follow a wiring diagram and assemble the guitar, all within a semester.

In addition, students were also given the opportunity to learn to play the guitar through small group lessons offered through the Music department by Tim Janiszewski. Students also learned several integrated Science, Technology, Engineering and Math concepts that directly play into the design and function of this instrument.

The LFHS Guitar Building students are proud of the hours they have dedicated to their work and the skills they have honed along the way. They are eager to share their guitars with our community. We hope to see you there!
