Did You Know?
Three CCTS Partners-HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology, UAB, and University of Mississippi Medical Center-have been awarded a four-year, $10 million NIH grant to sequence newborns with birth defects and/or signs suggestive of a genetic disorder. The project, "Clinical Sequencing across Communities in the Deep South," is part of a larger nationwide initiative called "Evidence-Generating Research Consortium (CSER2)." The primary goal is to improve the diagnosis and care of babies with birth defects and genetic disorders.

The Letter of Intent (LOI) deadline for the 2018 CCTS Partner Network Multidisciplinary Pilot Program is 5pm CDT on Wed. Aug. 30. We welcome projects that address questions of importance to the health of our communities, including health disparities and health challenges across the life course, as well as clinical conditions that disproportionately affect our region. I-Corps @ UAB Info Sessions: Refine and Fund Your Most Innovative Idea
Do you have a novel idea that could help people? If so, mark your calendar for one of our upcoming information sessions about the I-Corps @ UAB program, which helps investigators assess the value of their research projects, prototypes, and protocols. Those who participate in the full four-week I-Corps program will receive $2500 to test out the product-market fit of their visions.

UAB-HudsonAlpha Genomic Medicine PostDoctoral Training Program Request for Applications
The purpose of this training grant is to recruit postdoctoral trainees from various disciplines and provide mentorship and clinical research training in genomic medicine.
Postdoctoral trainees will receive a monthly stipend, tuition and fees assistance, health insurance and travel funds.
