Inclement Weather
During inclement weather that would cause a school closing or delay of schedule, York Catholic will call/text/email you through our One Call Now Emergency Notification system.  Other modes of notification include WSBA 910-AM, WGAL TV-8, and the YC website.  Students from individual school districts are automatically excused if their district closes and does not provide transportation to YCHS.  The exceptions to this are Southern and Southeastern.  These students follow York Catholic's delay and closing schedule.
No School Monday
School is closed Monday, January 16, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

We Need Your Input for Our Feasibility Study
After two years of information gathering and feedback from all constituents, the York Catholic School Board and the Diocese of Harrisburg have approved a multi-phased Master Plan.  In preparation for the first phase of the plan, we have retained an experienced professional consulting firm to conduct a feasibility study.  Kirby-Smith Associates has created an initial survey as part of this study.

We ask that you kindly take a few minutes to provide valuable feedback by clicking here  for the brief online survey.

You may also click here for more information about Phase 1 of the Master Plan.

We appreciate your input and support as together we work to improve YC.
Schedule Changes
The icy weather has prompted adjustments to our schedule this week.

Mid-terms
Mid-term examinations for grades 9-12 have begun and will continue Friday, January 13, and Tuesday, January 17.  As a reminder, no trips will be approved during mid-term exams (Student Handbook/Agenda pgs. 27-28).  Students will not be permitted to take a make-up exam due to a trip.

Two exam periods are posted each day.  Students who take more than one class in a major subject area will take the second conflict exam during the conflict time slot (11:00 AM -12:00 noon) on the day of their scheduled exam.  The remaining exam schedule is as follows:

January 13
period 1:  Science
period 2:  Religion
period 3:  Conflicts

January 17

period 2:  Foreign Language

These exam days are half days with dismissal at 11:00 AM.  School districts will only pick-up at 11 AM.  Students testing in the AAC may be dismissed at a later time according to documented learning needs.

Bishop's Mass & Battle of the Buildings
To kick off Catholic Schools Week, Bishop Ronald Gainer will preside at our York Deanery Celebration Mass on Saturday, January 28, at 4 PM in the YC auditorium.  Attendance at this Mass fulfills your Sunday obligation.  Following Mass, we will move to the gym for the 3rd Annual Battle of the Buildings at 6 PM.  This is a friendly inter-partner school competition of "minute-to-win-it" type games. The teachers are the competitors and the families are the fans.

The price of admission is a donated non-perishable item for the Catholic Harvest Food Pantry.  Every school will have a special table to collect these donations.  The top three schools with the most donations will earn points for their team!

The York Catholic Music Association will have food & beverages available for purchase.
Athletic Hall of Fame Inductions
York Catholic High School's Athletic Association is inducting seven new members into its Sports Hall of Fame.  The inductees will be introduced Saturday, January 21, prior to the start of the girls' varsity basketball game versus Dallastown scheduled for a 3:30 PM tip-off.  After the game, the induction will be held in the cafeteria.

The Sports Hall of Fame honors former coaches and student athletes, and the dedication of athletic program volunteers.  Those being inducted include:  Sarah Bright-Phillips '00 (athlete), Marc Ryan (volunteer), Jon Showers '07 (athlete), Kyle Smink (volunteer), Eugene Staab '39 (athlete), Megan Stewart '07 (athlete), Amanda Weaver '07 (athlete).
