WCA ANNUAL BUSINESS MEETING RESOLUTIONS AVAILABLE

The 61 resolutions submitted for consideration at the WCA Annual Business Meeting on Sunday, September 24, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. are now available.

The Annual Business Meeting will be held at the Kalahari Resort & Convention Center.

JOINT COMMITTEE ON FINANCE SET TO MEET THIS WEEK  

The Joint Committee on Finance (JCF) is set to begin meeting again this week on the state budget after a two-month hiatus.

A timeline for budget completion has not been announced.

PUBLIC HEARING ON DHS RULE ON DRUG TESTING FSET PARTICIPANTS  

The Department of Health Services (DHS) proposes an order to create Chapter DHS 38, administrative rules relating to drug testing for participants in the FoodShare Employment and Training Program who are able-bodied adults. WCA has concerns with the promulgation of this rule, most notably the costs to county income maintenance consortia.

The public hearing will be held as follows:

Monday, August 21, 2017, 10:00 a.m. at the Brown County Library - Central Library, Auditorium, 515 Pine Street, Green Bay.

Counties have until August 28, 2017 to comment on the rule. Comments may be submitted to the Department by:
1.    Completing and submitting a Public Comment Form to the Department Contact indicated for this rule at: Permanent Rules.
2.    Submitting a comment through the Wisconsin State Legislature's website.
3.    Mailing written comments to: Wisconsin Medicaid Program, Wisconsin Department of Health Services 1 W. Wilson St., Madison, WI 53703

All counties are highly encouraged to submit comments on the rule or appear at the public hearing.

Assembly Speaker's Task Force on Foster Care, 12:00 p.m.
Marathon County Library, Wausau Community Room, 300 1st St., Wausau, WI

Testimony will be accepted from invited speakers and the general public on matters related to the foster care system.

Depending on the number of registrants wishing to speak, the co-chairs may find it necessary to utilize a time limit for each speaker. The time limit may be adjusted throughout the public hearing in order to accommodate the number of registrants.

The hearing will end at 5:00 p.m.

Senate Committee on Judiciary and Public Safety, 10:00 a.m.
Senate Bill 226 - the authority for counties to enter into contracts to perform child protective service functions. WCA supports this bill.
Senate Bill 280 - neglect of a child and providing criminal penalties. WCA opposes this bill.
