Two young girls and one adult killed in San Jose mobile home fire
SAN JOSE - A relative visiting the next-door neighbor of the mobile home that caught on fire said an explosion appeared to spark the midday inferno that killed three people, including two children. 10-year-old Linda Van, nine-year-old Uyen Tran, and Van's grandfather were killed in the fire that quickly swept through and destroyed the mobile home. Firefighters quickly control brush fire along Interstate 880 in San Jose
SAN JOSE - A small brush fire ignited along Interstate 880 in San Jose. CHP and San Jose Fire Department received reports of smoke coming from vegetation along the highway near Brokaw Road. The fire may have ignited at a homeless encampment, according to the fire department.

Car Fire Ignites Brush Blaze in San Jose
SAN JOSE - Firefighters managed to control a vehicle fire that quickly spread to nearby brush and came within feet of burning hillside homes. The initial car fire ignited along northbound Highway 101 near Yerba Buena Road The subsequent brush blaze is estimated to have charred roughly seven acres of hillside before firefighters corralled the flames.

Off-duty Oakland firefighter fatally shot in San Jose; 1 injured
San Jose Fire Fighters responded and attempted to save 2 of our own brothers, after a senseless shooting in Japantown. One firefighter did not survive and the other is being treated for life threatening injuries.
Our members are standing watch alongside Oakland Fire Fighters, providing encouragement, support and logistical needs for the surviving member in their time of need.

Menlo Park Firefighter recovering after fall through roof during house fire
MENLO PARK, Calif. (KTVU) - A Menlo Park Fire Captain sustained moderate burns in a house fire after the roof he was standing on gave out as the attic burned beneath him, The Fire Captain, had just guided a Firefighter as he cut a square ventilation hole in the roof of the residence. He stepped across the top ridge of the building's roof holding a pole he was using to check the structural integrity of the roof when he felt the area under him get "spongy."

Proposed bill aims to track higher cancer rates among firefighters
JEFFERSONVILLE - U.S. Rep. Trey Hollingsworth met with local fire service members to discuss a bill aimed at tackling increased cancer rates among firefighters. The Firefighter Cancer Registry Act, co-sponsored by Indiana's 9th Congressional District representative, would provide the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention with the funding and capability to collect and analyze data related to cancer incidents within the profession. New program helped save mother, daughter hit by car in N. Spokane
SPOKANE, Wash. - The Spokane Fire Department said that two people are alive thanks to a program called Automatic Aid. The automatic aid program is an agreement between fire departments that the closest crew will respond to the incident no matter what jurisdiction it falls in. (video) KREM

Feds urge training improvements after firefighter's fatal fall at warehouse
Daniel Capuano, 42 years old and a 15-year veteran of the department, fell through a 7-foot-square elevator shaft while fighting a fire in a former slaughterhouse in the 9200 block of South Baltimore Avenue in December 2015. Capuano and another firefighter had split up after reaching the second floor and encountered heavy smoke as they conducted a search for anyone trapped, according to the report by the National Institue for Occupational Safety & Health. A full first was dispatched to calls of a business on fire. Engine 3 arrived and found a working fire at an automotive repair shop.

Engine 24/E624 after a report of a grass fire. E24 reported flames seen from the station and requested a Tier. The event was upgraded to a Tier 2. The fire was under control after 1 hour.

RESCUE response for reports of a vehicle rolled over. The first arriving fire unit reported a vehicle that rolled over with one person trapped inside and three others self-extricated. The USAR Taskforce was requested to assist with extrication and a total of three ambulances were requested. The patient was extricated after 50 minutes.

Engine 24 /E624 were dispatched to reports of a fire and explosions heard near a homeless encampment in the area of the Los Lagos Golf Course. Engine 24 requested a TIER response after encountering access problems to the scene of the fire. E24 reported that paint cans had exploded in the homeless camp. The fire was knocked down after 40 minutes
Multiple calls reporting a structure fire. The first arriving fire unit reported working detached garage fire that had extended to the residence. SJPD was requested to assist with the hysterical homeowner and PG&E was requested to secure the utilities.

Multiple calls reporting a house on fire. The first arriving fire unit reported a working structure fire and requested a 2nd Alarm. The fire was knocked down and all units cleared after 4 hours.

Engine 24/E624 to a report of a vehicle fire. Engine 18 was also dispatched at the request of E24. E24 arrived and reported a fully involved vehicle fire. A Tier I was requested as fire spread to the wildland area long the Hwy which was upgraded to a Tier II. CalFire also sent a full response.

Multiple reports of a vegetation fire. An I-ZONE response was dispatched. The first arriving unit reported a vegetation fire at a fast rate of speed and ordered a TIER response.

Full First response for multiple callers reporting a mobile home on fire. The first unit arrived and reported a mobile home fully engulfed. SJPD was requested for traffic control. PG&E was requested, as well as a precautionary ambulance. The fire was knocked down after 20 minutes.
