For 10th-12th Grade Students and a Parent
Generation Change leads teens to a better understanding of God, themselves and their money - and how it all works together. Students and a parent will learn how to create and manage a budget, save for long term goals, understand the value of stewardship, and much more. This is a free four-week series on Wednesdays January 11-February 1, from 6:45-8:15 p.m. The parish Wednesday night supper is served at 6:00 p.m. in Valentine Hall and the class will meet in Michaux House room 306. Leader: Scott Hurt. To register, contact Mary Beth Abplanalp.
The Search Committee is pleased to announce that it received over 500 responses to the parish survey and the Community Profile is now complete! You can read the results here. That information and other resources for applicants are now on the Diocese of Virginia website and the Episcopal Church's national database. Please share this newsletter and these links with potential candidates. The Committee also wishes to express its appreciation to all who completed the survey.

NEW! Grace in Transition: Coping with Change
Discover grace in periods of change with this seasonal small group. Those in the midst of change are in middle time - the place where our faith goes to die or to thrive. That is time when one stage of life is ending and another is beginning. Our hope is to find grace in the midst of transitions regardless of the stage or crisis. Each stage can prepare us for the next and the transition in between.Mondays, 7:00 - 8:30 p.m., January 23-April 10, Michaux House room 205. Contact: The Rev. Caroline Smith Parkinson
Financial Peace with Wisdom for Life

We all struggle to faithfully manage our money. An ideal Lenten Discipline is to attend Financial Peace University February 1-April 5 from 6:45-8:15 p.m. The class will be led by three skilled St. James's facilitators, and you can join the Wednesday evening supper group before the class. The course will meet in room 306 of the Michaux House. Click the video to the right to hear how the Abplanalps used their FPU experience and what to expect in our nine-week class.  Learn more here.
Many Pledges in all Sizes Enable us to
Live our Mission
In this season of giving, faith fuels our joyful desire to give back to St. Jame s's. Ou r goal is to reach 650 pledges, and we now have 627 pledges totaling $1,991,202. Annual pledges provide 93% of the church's budget, and we are $28,798 under last year's t otal.

This is an invitation to those who have not pledged as well as to those who might consider an increase to their existing pledge. A member has offered a $5000 challenge to the congregation for pledges increased by over $100. No pledge is too small - our church is supported by many who give what they are able.

Thank you  for your faithful engagement and for sharing God's gifts.  Click here to pledge now.
