Existing appointments will not be affected, and patients will be informed if their doctor's schedule has changed the next time they call for an appointment. In addition, lab testing will now be available for patients who arrive in the lab between  8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
COLD OR FLU?

The flu and the common cold are both respiratory illnesses but they are caused by different viruses. Because these two types of illnesses have similar symptoms, it can be difficult to tell the difference between them.

In general, colds are usually milder than the flu. People with colds usually do not have a fever greater than 101° F. Colds also generally do not result in serious health problems.

The flu is worse than the common cold and can have very serious  associated complications, such as pneumonia, bacterial infections, or hospitalizations. Symptoms of flu include  sore throat, fever,  headache, muscle aches and soreness, congestion, and  cough

Another difference between a cold and the flu is the intensity and progression of symptoms. Flu symptoms typically have a very quick and intense onset, while cold symptoms progress and intensify over multiple days.

Knowing the difference in symptoms is important to help you plan your treatment strategy.

More information on cold and flu symptoms and treatment options is available from the  Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
