Happy New Year!  Happy Wedding?
Ring in the new year with your closest friends & say "i do"... Easy right?

Well, in theory, having a New Year's Eve party/ wedding and reception sounds like a great idea! And, it just may be!  But... there are a few things to consider before putting down that deposit. First and foremost, consider your guests.  While your family and closest friends would love to spend  New Year's Eve with you, your co-workers and their dates/spouses may not! NYE is a big event for many! Be sure to take into consideration the  obligation  you are putting on some of your guests when inviting them to your wedding on a major holiday.
In addition, of course, cost is going to be higher on such a popular date.  And, even more importantly, some venues close at 10 PM, or 11PM, making it a little difficult to ring in the new year with your guests!  Be sure to inquire if there will be extra charges for extending your event hours past midnight.
Lastly.... be safe of course, providing transportation for your guests and hotel accommodations located in close relation to your venue!

While there are many things to consider when planning an NYE Wedding, New Year's Eve certainly lends itself to a great theme, party, and favors like no other time of year! Done well, your guest will be sure to have a ball!  Happy New Year and Cheers to a Happy Life!

~So Long 2016! Welcome 2017!~
Marcia Jordan,
Owner & Publisher

As we bid farewell to one year and welcome a new, we ponder the excitement and charm of winter holiday inspired weddings!
We look forward to the launch of our next issue of the Hampton Roads Wedding Guide, out next week.  We have been working tirelessly on a publication that will be sure to wow as well as guide.
We wish you a 2017 full of joy! Cheers!

A Winter Wonderland that Inspires!
A Winder Wonderland of Beauty... & Savings? Maybe.
Winter weddings, particularly in December, may appropriately lend themselves to the Christmas magic and decor that is readily available at many venues and churches during the holidays.  That said, the amount of additional decor needed for your wedding ceremony and reception can be minimal and such will reduce the overall cost of your decor budget.
In addition, the winter season, easily lends itself to a very distinguished theme that can be translated in several different ways throughout your event.

Accents such as your invitations and place cards will prove to be not only functional, but can also become part of the personalized design elements for your big day.
At the same time, December weekend dates often compete with annual holiday office and Command parties.  Thus, the prices can be higher during such dates due to the simple law of supply and demand.  If your desire is to have a December winter bliss wedding, be certain to book your dates far in advance!

Jennifer La Londe,
Director of  Creative Content
I love a good wedding! To me, the joy a wedding and all of its details brings is so exciting ! Planning the intimate ceremony and reception simply never gets old for me!
For years I have used the Hampton Roads Wedding Guide  as a resource for my clients, so to spend the last few years as the  Director of Creative Content of the HR Wed guide has been my honor. Truly a labor of love for me and an absolute pleasure to work beside Marcia Jordan, a local publishing icon in our industry.

Recently, my career has progressed once again. In the early Spring of 2016, I accepted the position as the Chief Operating Officer of House of Maya Bridal Salons.  As a result, I find my schedule to be a bit too busy to continue on as Marcia's Director of Creative Content.  I thank Marcia for the experience and for trusting me with her long standing wedding guide. I have thoroughly enjoyed updating and creating new editorials for the guide as well the content for the monthly newsletters.  Doing so has only solidified further my belief that the talent and cutting edge event design here in our region can easily compete with any large metropolitan area! That makes me very proud!  Providing a notable publication such as the Hampton Roads Wedding Guide for both local and visiting couples is simply icing on the cake.  It has been a thrill  for me to have been a part!

Stay tuned for many new and exciting items from Marcia and her team; all of which will be available in just a few days when the next issue begins its circulation. As always the January 2017 guide will impress, inspire, and educate.
Again, I am thankful for this experience, it has been so much fun.  I wish you all a very prosperous 2017!  Cheers!
Fondly,
Jennifer
