As most of you know I've stepped in as Finance Director for the 2016-17 fiscal year. We have some great opportunities for our members to get involved, get noticed and published. I also have a challenge to you going into 2017. Intrigued yet?
GET INVOLVED...(you want me to what?)
I now this is a scary word and I just said it!
I can't stress this enough, we need you to really step up this year and get involved with your faithful chapter. We can't have events without you, our designers and our industry partners. I know you probably just thought, "how do I get involved?" Let me toss a few opportunities out to you.
Our 2nd Annual Date with a Designer Event is fast approaching, on Saturday February 4th at Premier Bath and Kitchen in Rancho Cordova, California. We are still looking for designers to meet with clients for 45 minute consultations, and sponsors to have a table top at the event on Saturday. What do you get out of sponsoring this event? Your company's logo will be on the Home and Landscape Expo's marketing material digital and print as well as on all our chapter marketing material. Plus on the day of the event, you will not only have the opportunity to showcase your product to our participating designers, and clients but to anyone who enters Premier Bath and Kitchen, which is open to the public. asidcanv.org/asidcanv-crew-49 and check out our exclusive Crew 49 Bronze level. This is a great way to showcase your products to local designers, and also to the public as well. Designers, this is a great way to meet other local designers, have the opportunity to meet potential clients, and educate the public on what working with an Interior Design is all about.
The weekend prior to the event, ASID CA/NV will have a booth in the Pavilion Building at the Sacramento Home and Landscape Expo on Jan 27-29 at Cal Expo, promoting our Date with a Designer Event. Two of our members will also be there giving seminars, Kathleen Jennison, Allied ASID (Immediate Past President) speaking on "Color Your Home Like a Designer: Paint, Fabrics, Artwork, Finishes" then again "What's Now? Interior Trends You Don't Want to Miss" and Rebecca Ward, ASID speaking on "Unlock Your Style Combination: The Key to Defining Your Ideal Home" during the Expo. This is another opportunity for businesses to sponsor the speaking engagements. Ask yourself how can my products be showcased during these speaking engagements? Perhaps a paint company could sponsor Kathleen's Color seminar. Just tossing that out there.
GET NOTICED AND PUBLISHED
Our 3rd Annual ANDYZ Awards is also around the corner. Each year we continue to top the next, and we're looking to make this year's ANDYZ Awards the best yet. We will be looking for elite designers and aspiring design students to enter their best work, for the chance to become a part of our esteemed winners circle. Winners receive a beautiful award, and are published in various local medias. Last years winners were featured in The Sacramento Bee, Furniture Today, and on various industry partners social media, just to name a few. This is another great way to get your work, and your name recognized throughout the design community. We will also be looking for sponsors for the ANDYZ Awards Presentation and Reception to take place during Las Vegas Summer Market. More details will follow in coming months.
My challenge to you, our members, going into 2017, is to GET INVOLVED with your ASID Chapter. We can't have successful events without YOU! I would love to meet more of our members before my term as Finance Director is over. Our members are some of the most elite, highly educated, talented designers, students and industry partners in our industry. I'm so honored that I've had the opportunity to meet, and learn from so many of you over the last five years. I value your friendship and what getting involved with ASID has done for me. In 2017 JUMP IN! Get involved in 2017, meet new people, learn new things and who knows where that simple step will lead you!
