Ed Tech Plan Available for Public Comment

The Virginia Department of Education has been working on updating the state's Educational Technology Plan. The draft of the plan is now available for public comment. 


Computer Science Standards Available for Public Comment

The Virginia Department of Education has been working on K-12 Computer Science Standards of Learning and they are now available for review.

VDOE will hold two public hearings on the proposed K-12 Computer Science Standards of Learning.  One will be on September 6 at 7:00 pm in Roanoke and the other will be on September 20 at 7:00 pm in Richmond. Details and locations will be provided at a later time.

Public comment can also be provided online.

Each year at its annual conference, VSTE recognizes three educators with awards for leadership and innovation in educational technology. Nominees comes from the VSTE community. 

We are seeking nominations for the Outstanding Leader, Outstanding Teacher and Innovative Educator of the Year awards.

Featured Speakers Announced: Leading Ed Forum 2017

VSTE and the Virginia Department of Education are partnering to provide two days of professional development for technology and instructional leaders. Plan to join us October 19 and 20, 2017, at Daniel Technology Center, Culpeper, Virginia.
Two nationally recognized educational technology leaders will be joining us. Ryan Imbriale, Executive Director of Innovative Learning for the Baltimore County Public Schools, will provide the opening keynote on Thursday, October 19, 2017. Joe Fredosso, USAC consultant and co-founder and COO of Mighty River, will lead a panel discussion on Friday, October 20

Are you a classroom teacher who is using instructional technology in an interesting and engaging way?  Are you transforming how technology is used in education?  Are your students creating and sharing their learning in ways that other students and teachers would want to hear about?

The 2017 VSTE Presentations Committee is seeking proposals from educators of all levels and backgrounds. We're looking for presentations that engage, enlighten, invigorate, transform, or motivate learners and leaders as they integrate technology into education.   Whether you are a first-time presenter or returning presenter, your presence makes a difference and we want to hear from you!
