Happy New Year!
The State Innovation Model (SIM) team has a full agenda to ensure success for integrating behavioral health and primary care and testing alternative payment models to ensure sustainability. The first SIM Multi-stakeholder Symposium will be hosted this month to encourage discussions about cohort 1 practices, how feedback from cohort 1 has been used to shape and inform future cohorts and encourage honest conversation among stakeholders. We will share updates from the meeting in future issues of the newsletter and through social media channels, and are committed to ongoing success in 2017 and beyond.

The SIM team is pleased to report ongoing progress in the commitment to expand broadband access to practices across the state to enhance data reporting capacity and lay the groundwork for telemedicine. We believe this is a lynchpin to improving access to integrated care. We will have additional information about a new telemedicine research report, which we plan to publish in the coming months and more details about this piece of the SIM initiative in future issues of the newsletter. SIM small grants: An investment in integration
Most of the SIM small grants recipients have started work and we will soon be able to share updates on how practices are using funds to improve practice infrastructure and integrate care. Practices are encouraged to contact Meg Quiat, small grants administrator, with questions. As a reminder, it will take at least 45 days from the date the SIM office approves invoices before disbursements are released.

Learn more about the Quality Payment Program (QPP) during this event Jan. 12 (10 a.m. - 11 a.m. MST). Hear updates and learn about deadlines for CY2016 quality reporting data submission for PQRS and the EHR Incentive Program to avoid negative payment adjustments in 2018. The last half of the hour will be dedicated to questions about the QPP.

The second phase of the ACC will leverage the successes of Health First Colorado's (Colorado Medicaid) programs that enhance member and provider experience, improve member health and life outcomes and use state resources wisely. A key component of the next iteration of the program is to help ensure providers receive supports to achieve individualized practice goals. Take this opportunity to weigh in:

The historic, cultural separation of primary care and behavioral health has caused the spread of integrated care to lag behind other practice transformation efforts. The Advancing Care Together study was a 3-year evaluation of how practices implemented integrated care in their local contexts; at its culmination, practice leaders ("innovators") identified lessons learned to pass on to others.
The Arvada Police Department is teaming up with the Jefferson Center for Mental Health, and have added two mental health experts to the police force.
