Meet Mrs Crosby!

Join us on Saturday January 14 for a Tea and Tasting.
Come see the latest from Mrs Crosby where we'll have her latest trunk show. We'll also have some tea and light refreshments.
We're hoping we can get her to pause in her exotic travels to meet you all. We do know her business partner and friend Beth Casey will be here, all the way from Chicago!

Everyone that attends will receive a $5 coupon good towards anything in the shop that day! (Yes, that day only, in store only)

All Mrs Crosby Yarn will be 15% off! (Yes, that day only. On Line too!)

Plan on a day of giveaways and fun. (Ok, it's fun here everyday, but we don't have giveaways everyday!)

This event runs all day from 10AM to 5PM, so treat yourself to a day in Cambria!

Huasco Chunky Beanie
Another new yarn to the shop is Araucania Huasco Chunky. As the name implies, it's a chunky weight yarn so projects work up pretty quickly.

This yarn is 100% hand-dyed, super wash merino. It's got a great twist and feels spectacular to work with.

Two skeins makes this beautiful cabled beanie.
The pattern is free with the purchase of two skeins of the yarn, just ask us when you order!

Auntie Wooly
Auntie Wooly Says...

Dahlings!

We're yarn people. We like to knit, crochet, spin, and weave to create beautiful pieces that take hours, sometimes many, many hours of our time. We love it, of course. No matter if it's a simple piece or an elaborate, intricate garment, we love the feel of the fiber and the process of creating something by hand.

Then, we give it away.

Or we keep it "for a special  occasion".

Friends, I'm here to say you should use those pieces you created. All the work, all that lovely yarn should be enjoyed and used. Hand worked pieces, for the most part, shouldn't just sit in a cedar lined drawer somewhere, they should be out and about, proclaiming your love of yarn and needle work to the world! By wearing your items in public, you may encourage someone to take up knitting or crochet. You may also meet fellow yarnaholics, after all, we are one big happy family. A Fiber Family!

What happens if your piece gets worn out or damaged in the process? We get to make another piece! After all, we should always have multiple projects on our needles, right?

Anyway, that's my thoughts for this day.

Until next time...

Happy Stitching!

Ball Winder
The Cadillac of Ball Winders

There are ball winders, then there are Ball Winders! We're delighted to bring you the finest ball winder we've ever seen or used. Made in the US out of wood and metal, these premium ball winders from Nancy's Knit Knacks are durable as well as beautiful.

We set ours up in the shop and were simply overjoyed at how well it works, right from the box! Yes, there are many adjustments you can make, but their advice was to set it up and just use it, as they configure it from the factory for most common skein sizes.

The effort it takes to wind a ball of yarn is far less than our trusty plastic, lighter weight ball winder. There's nothing really wrong with the lighter ball winders, we've used them for years, but we're simply in love with the quality and look of this tool. We also love that it's made in the US.

You'll pay more for this winder, but we think it's the last winder you'll ever buy. You can even get a power base for it for automatic winding!

Willow
Willow from Trendsetter

Another fun yarn from our friends at
Trendsetter Yarns! Willow is very similar to Transitions, but is a little heavier and is a fuzzy yarn that's amazingly soft. The yarn contains no wool, so is appropriate even for those with wool sensitivity.

Six fun, gradient color ways and a FREE PATTERN to make this one ball scarf/shawl. Knit on US 7s
