Making Pedestrian Safety a Priority
When Peachtree Corners first began to develop in the 1970s, the automobile was king and little thought was given to providing even the basic amenities - sidewalks and dedicated crosswalks -- for pedestrians. Even the city's  early subdivisions often lacked sidewalks.

We've seen that trend begin to swing in the opposite direction: Now home buyers often make their choice of which home to buy based on the community's pedestrian-friendly amenities such as sidewalks, hiking trails, multi-use trails and safe pedestrian crossings.

The development includes a 295 high-end millennial housing complex, pool, boat dock, hiking/biking trail, cyber cafe, fitness facilities and a dog park.
Access to the development will be from Peachtree Industrial Boulevard and Reps Miller Road.

Startups Signing Up to Join Prototype Prime

Interest in Prototype Prime, the new startup incubator located in the City of Peachtree Corners, has been high since it opened in October.  Six weeks after opening, Prototype Prime announced the selection of two companies for the incubator created for early-stage entrepreneurs.

Trellis, an agriculture technology startup that helps farmers grow more crops and use less water by using its wireless soil moisture sensors and online platform, and Fetch, which is working to eliminate the hassles of renting a truck through its smartphone app.

Drop Off Christmas Tree at Fire Station for Recycling

Recycling your Christmas tree keeps trees out of landfills by converting them into mulch.  All Gwinnett Fire Station locations will accept live Christmas trees until Jan. 15 to be mulched and recycled.

Trees must be dropped off free of decorations, lights and stands by Jan. 15. The collected trees will be chipped into mulch to line the grounds of local playgrounds, mark walking trails in area parks, and much more.

For residents unable to transport their trees, Waste Pro offers an alternative

  • Christmas trees: $25.00 (for residents not signed up for yard waste pickup), for residents currently paying for yard waste pickup, it is free
  • Waste Pro accepts Visa, MasterCard, or Discover cards
  • For Christmas tree pickup, residents must call first before placing at curb to schedule the pickup The entire tree may be placed at the curb, it does not have to be cut into specific lengths. Call Waste Pro at 770-777-1447.
Are You Prepared for a Winter Weather Emergency?

Georgia has its share of winter weather. Storms can range from a moderate snow over a few hours to a blizzard with blinding, wind-driven snow that can last for hours. Many winter storms are accompanied by dangerous low temperatures, strong winds, icing and freezing rain.

Heat, power and communication services to your home can be lost, sometimes for several days to weeks.
