»  Agricultural and Forest Products: Minnesota's rich history of farming and forestry has evolved into an economic hub delivering advanced agricultural and forest products of all kinds.

»  Data Centers: Great River Energy is a leader in site selection services whose expertise, combined with one of the most aggressive state incentive programs, provides increased speed-to-market and long-term operational savings for data centers. 

»  Mining : Minnesota continues to serve as a major supplier of all kinds of minerals. Mine operators and supply chain  bu sinesses are currently  gearing up for another round of major investments in the state to serve the growing demand for non-ferrous minerals and direct-reduced iron products. 
 
»  Advanced Manufacturing: According to DEED, manufacturing is the largest private-sector contributor to the state's GDP. Direct and spin-off employment accounts for close to 1/3 of all jobs statewide.
Sparks re-elected to EDAM board

Erin Sparks, economic development specialist at Great River Energy, was recently re-elected to the Economic Development Association of Minnesota (EDAM) board of directors. She will be serving her third, two-year term. As part of her director duties, Sparks will oversee committees and budgets as well as assist in planning and organizing conferences. READ MORE
Member cooperatives leverage Revolving Loan Funds to support local businesses

Over the past year, several of Great River Energy's member cooperatives supported economic growth in their service areas by providing revolving loan fund (RLF) financing for small businesses.  Backed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, rural electric cooperative RLF programs offer an invaluable economic development tool designed to work with traditional bank financing, encouraging business growth and investment in rural communities where city-run RLFs are not always available .
