STIRRINGS OF FAITH
JANUARY/FEBRUARY
2017

A new year is beginning and we want to thank you for being the church and sharing the love of Christ. We wish you a blessed 2017!

A Prayer for the New Year
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy.
O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Faith Early Learning Center

The Faith Early Learning Center Board is honored to share and celebrate our continued growth and strengthening of the past year with all of you, our church family. We are excited to share that the Early Learning Center is fully enrolled in all three age groups, with a waiting list. Each week, we are ministering to and growing with 65 2-4 year olds and their families, with a caring and dedicated staff of professionals.
We are proud that our staff all completed at least 40 training hours in the past two years, with most completing over 100 hours. 5 out of 7 of our eligible teachers are back in college using TEACH scholarship monies. We continue to work toward accreditation and will have a 2 day validation visit this spring at our site. The children participate in Chapel on a weekly basis, and we have also started Parenting classes through the Family Life Education Center.
            On the financial end, we remain tight, but solidly in the black for our third year. This year, we were able to also increase the Mission Share from the school to the church by another $500 per month. We have made continual enhancements to our playground, including a sun shade and additional trees. Painting of classrooms and installation of new counters and cabinets occurred over the summer.
            All in all, we have so much to celebrate with our school. We appreciate the continued collaboration with our church members, and the support and encouragement from all of you.

Cooke Walk Follow-Up

The Cookie Walk was a success!    Thanks to all who helped make this annual event successful.    Everyone who baked dozens and dozens of cookies, bars, fruit bread, and candy, everyone who helped in any way from set -up and plating,    putting boxes together, clean-up (lots of clean-up!), decorating, welcoming the public, and the many, many other things that needed to be completed in order for this event to take place.    We love you all!
We have determined that the event netted approximately $3000 this year.    The proceeds will be used to finish paying for the Chrismon tree, and other church family needs to be determined after the New Year.
Again, thanks to everyone who worked on the event, and purchased cookies, too!

W.I.L.D. FUNDRAISERS UPDATE
Nature Print Created by W.I.L.D. Women
NATURE PRINTING - Thanks to everyone who had fun creating the nature prints, as well as those who purchased the items that were for sale in November and early December. SPECIALTY NUTS - We sold out of all the bagged nuts this year! Profits totaled $656.80 and are earmarked towards renovations in the Narthex bathrooms. Co-chairs Sue Rice, Sandy Bentley and Nancy Arntsen thank everyone who purchased a bag or two of these delicious nuts.

January 26th-Valentines for Vets Workshop
We had such a great time last year making handmade Valentines for our local Vets that we're repeating this fun activity. Materials to bring:

-card stock (white, pink, red or any color you'd like to make a card with or you can purchase blank cards)
-decorating medium you like to work with (rubber stamps, stickers, doilies, glitter sticks, Washi tape, etc.)
-a variety of nice Valentine messages to write in your special cards to the veterans

Don't worry if you don't have many materials to bring, we usually have some extras of each to share. This is a wonderful service project where we can thank the veterans for their service. We will meet in room 212, beginning at 6:30 pm.
