OCTOBER - DECEMBER 2016
FROM THE BOARD...

All good things must come to an end and so must 2016! The past year was action-packed with adventures, community events, social gatherings, and the creation of our newest CPATH program - Camp CPals! After hosting our inaugural fundraiser in October 2015 and months of planning, we were honored and thrilled to introduce Camp CPals. Ten families experienced a weekend full of FUN and NEW amazing adventures at a fully-accessible barrier-free camp!

We celebrated our second year operating as a 501c3 non-profit organization in July, and hosted our 2nd annual Light the Path fundraiser in October. Once again, the event was a huge success and will allow CPATH to continue our current programs - including Camp CPals - and carry out our mission of helping children and families living with cerebral palsy.

2016 was full of growth, commitment, and community - and was made possible thanks to the dedicated sponsors, donors, volunteers, and families we are privileged to work with. It is truly an honor to serve the cerebral palsy community of Central Texas!

LIGHT THE PATH 2016
Oh what a night!  We were so fortunate to share this illuminating evening with World Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day. What a perfect way to light up Downtown Austin while celebrating Cerebral Palsy Awareness.

Light the Path 2016 had more than 125 people in attendance and raised over $20,000!

Funds raised from this event and year-round donations allow CPATH to expand our core programs while implementing new opportunities for the cerebral palsy community.

Our deepest gratitude to our sponsors, donors, volunteers, and attendees. Thanks to your support, we are thrilled to bring Camp CPals back again in May 2017!

CPALS UPDATE

CPATH and CPals participated in the annual Round Rock Parks and Recreation Department & Seton Medical Center Williamson trunk-or-treat event.

This family-centered event is designed for children with various disabilities or limitations. There were so many decorated trunks out there - wow!  Participants were SO creative and truly went all out to ensure that ALL children had an amazing Halloween experience.

CPATH had non-edible goodies (aka toys!!!) for our friends in addition to edible treats. A HUGE thank you to our volunteers that came out and helped make this a spooktacular night!!!!

CPARENTS - Because CPals aren't the only ones having fun!!!

CPATH and the Southwest Family YMCA teamed up to provide parents with an afternoon of respite care!!

Our first Kids ‘n Play was a super fun afternoon and a chance for parents to focus on themselves and have some much-needed time off. Although the parents had free time, we’re pretty sure the kids had more fun than their parents!

Kids ‘n Play is designed for ages 4-21 with cerebral palsy or similar neuro-motor diagnoses. Participants had a fun-filled day of adaptive sports, activities, and crafts. We had PTs, OTs, and a nurse on staff for safety and assistance, and sibling care was available, too.

A super shout out to the Southwest Family YMCA, our amazing volunteers and buddies, and, most of all, our families that braved the rainy weather to join us.

Watch for more Kids ‘n Play respite events in 2017!

COMMUNITY OUTREACH

One Central Texas child is smiling a little brighter, and CPATH is proud to have been a part of it! We sponsored our first AmTryke therapeutic tricycle, and it was awarded to the local recipient on December 10th. You can be sure that many smiles, giggles, and independence were present!

Like CPATH, Capital City Ambucs promotes abilities, not disabilities. Ambucs' goals are to provide children with the opportunity to ride a bike - because EVERY child deserves a bike!

"AmTrykes help children improve motor skills, provide strength training, are fun to ride, and offer the opportunity for inclusive play. They also provide a new form of mobility, exercise, and freedom to explore the community."

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
