2016 High School Giving Circle Chooses Grants
Two Members Listen to  Grant Proposal.
In December, Lauren Renda, Program Associate is a happy elf, industriously writing holiday grants. She is especially delighted to work on the grants recommended by the 2016 High School Giving Circle. The Circle wrapped up for the year this month. The Community Foundation staff will miss the 15 enthusiastic students' energy and spirit. The students who made up the High School Giving Circle represent seven different local high schools: Davidson Academy, Galena, Reno, Wooster, Reed, Manogue and Damonte High. Over the 9-week session, the students researched their charitable interests and then invited representatives from local nonprofits to make their pitch and answer questions from the group. Last week, The Circle members had a tough meeting deciding upon the grant distribution from the deserving grant seekers.
High School Giving Circle Member Ming Li Wu
is Accepted to Harvard!
Tracy Turner Congratulates Ming Li Wu.
Cheers and a round of applause greeted Ming Li when she walked into the Community Foundation office last week and shared her terrific news.  Ming Li has volunteered with the High School Giving Circle since she was a freshman at the Davidson Academy.  Her unique perspective, enthusiasm for philanthropy, and engagement in the process made her a standout to the staff and a leader within the Giving Circle.  A spoken word poet, she will be presenting at the 2017 University of Nevada TED X on January 21, at the Grand Sierra Resort.
THANK YOU
for Supporting Streetsmart 4 Youth during October

Please complete a short survey that should take less than three minutes to complete. Your feedback for Streetsmart 4 Youth is extremely important and will help us in the future.

Thank you for continuing to support youth who are homeless or at-risk in our community. If you have any questions about Streetsmart 4 Youth, please contact Sarah Jahr, Initiative Associate or Nick Tscheekar, Director of Community Leadership.
