Bishop S earch Commit tee survey for all members of the diocese
The Search Committee invites all members of the diocese to participate in a culture and climate survey about the Episcopal Diocese of Kansas, which will be open until Aug. 31, 2017.
The survey takes 20-25 minutes to complete: Survey here.

If you prefer to complete a paper copy of the survey, there are paper copies available at the reception desk (or contact the parish office). Paper copies must be returned to the parish office no later than Tuesday, August 29th.

This survey will assist the committee in developing a diocesan profile that best reflects our hopes, dreams and expectations for our next bishop. Its results also will inform the questions we ask nominees throughout the screening process.
Finally, the report will be a gift we give to the next bishop as he or she begins their call in early 2019, as it will provide rich data about who we are, what we value as a diocese, and how our own gifts and talents contribute to the mission and ministry of the church.

   

Basic A starts this Tuesday, August 22 at 6:00 pm in the chapel. Confirmation is October 7. Basic A will meet weekly through October 3 for all interested in learning more about the Episcopal Church. See class schedule here.
 
Ministry Fair - September 10. Please join us in the Guild Hall during Breakfast Sunday and learn about the ministries of St. James. And if you have a ministry to share, please contact Anne Clark about reserving a spot.

Wanted: Reading Volunteers for our Elementary Schools The St. James Outreach Committee is helping recruit 300 volunteers for the newly expanded and highly successful reading program - The United Way's Read-to-Succeed Program at 15 elementary schools in USD 259.  You can enroll online at www.unitedwayplains.org/read-to-succeed-initiative. In a recent sermon, Mother Sarah invited us all to read, pray about, and experiment with Dr. Fred Luskin's Nine Step Process of Forgiveness, using his approach (derived from Stanford Forgiveness Project's research) to explore a situation, relationship, or memory from our lives ripe for experiencing the healing power of God's love, leading us toward forgiveness.
