Sanatana Dharma and the Four Yogas of Our Living Tradition
Service Leader: Arpit Davé
Sunday, August 20, 10:30 AM
Our Living Tradition is sustained by "Wisdom from the world's religions which inspires us in our ethical and spiritual life." Join Arpit Davé in a brief exploration of the Sanatana Dharma tradition, known more commonly as "Hinduism." We will seek modern truths in the ancient practice of The Four Yogas and, just maybe, discover the Yogi living within us all.
Next Sunday, August 27
Women, Race, Misogyny, Economics, and Lesbian Erasure
Service Leader: Katie Resendiz
Sunday, August 27, 10:30 AM
Through storytelling, song, and obituary this service will grieve the women we have disappeared. Through yelling, laughing, and poetry, we will work to honor each other and the divinity we are again and again becoming. As a community learning intersectionality, we find that naming and examining all of our aspects is hard, heartbreaking work. We look to our foremothers to remind us that it is the only work that has ever made us whole. And together we move forward.

Musical Instruments for Maryland School
Do you, a family member, or friend have a musical instrument collecting dust in a closet?  For most families at Maryland School instrument rental fees are outside of the budget, so the band and orchestra teachers are reaching out for donations to the school of instruments of all kinds, including guitars.  Many students are interested in learning to appreciate music and play them, so if you can help please email Cathy Kim below.

Raised-Upper-Class Facilitator Needed
Our Identity Nights program helps us make connections and share with other members of our community around issues of identity. This fall, one of our Identity Nights will be about socioeconomic class. We have two facilitators for the raised-poor and raised-working-class group, and two for the raised-middle-class group, but only one for the group of those raised in either the upper-middle-class and upper-class-elite, and it would be good to have one more. Most of us have mixed class backgrounds, so if you have any upper-class influence in your childhood at all and would be willing to help facilitate this group, please email Benjie Messer below. We know that class background can be a sensitive and confusing aspect of identity, and we appreciate you considering helping our congregation grow in this way.

Your Generosity is Showing
You might notice something a little different in the UUCP hallway the next time you come. Due to your amazing generosity during the capital campaign, we are starting to do some work. You might see a couple of holes in the ceilings around the campus and this is to allow our engineer to have access to certain areas of the building.

Thanks again for supporting our spiritual home.
