The 2017 CalFresh Forum event program is now available. This year's event will feature plenaries and panels led by speakers with varied and extensive CalFresh/SNAP policy and programmatic expertise.
Presentation topics will include innovative strategies to increase participation, upcoming state legislation, the return of the three-month time limit for unemployed adults without children, food insecurity screening in health care, and the importance of ensuring equitable access for all.
In addition to the program speakers, the annual "Freshy" awards will be presented in acknowledgment of individual Californians, as well as organizations, from across the state that have worked diligently in the last year to improve CalFresh.

Sign-ons Due Today, January 10!
The California Department of Education (CDE) is currently seeking feedback on their draft plan for the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). Several policy and funding provisions in ESSA support student wellness and can be leveraged to help meet students' nutritional needs. However, California's current plan misses a tremendous opportunity to more fully integrate nutrition into education policy and practice. Addressed to our education decision makers in Sacramento, this sign-on letter urges CDE and the State Board of Education to use ESSA to help more students access the academic and health benefits of school nutrition programs.
To sign on to the letter please email [email protected] with your organization's name by COB January 10th.
