Dear Future Ohio State Student,

Greetings from the Office of International Affairs at The Ohio State University! We are looking forward to meeting you this spring, and our International Student and Scholars team has put together some resources to help you prepare for your arrival in Columbus, Ohio. Over the last few weeks, you received emails additional information that cover 11 important steps to take before and upon arrival at Ohio State. This is the last email with the important steps. All previously sent emails can be found at oia.osu.edu/pre-arrival-information.

STEP 11: ATTEND YOUR PRE-SCHEDULED IMMIGRATION CHECK-IN TIME
Mandatory immigration check-in will be held in 100 Enarson Classroom Building during the following dates and times:
  • Dates: Tuesday, January 3 - Friday, January 6. Please note that the university will be closed on January 2 for the holiday.
  • Times: 12 - 4 p.m.
Keep in mind that the only way to guarantee your immigration check-in time is to register in advance. You can register at oia.osu.edu/spring-semester. Students who did not register in advanced may have to wait for extended periods of time or be asked to reschedule.

Please remember to bring the following required documents to immigration check-in:
  • Admission letter to Ohio State
  • Current Passport
  • Current U.S. Visa
  • Printed I-94 (you are able to print the form yourself by visiting the CBP website: https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/I94/request.html) PLEASE PRINT THIS FORM IN ADVANCE TO MINIMIZE YOUR WAIT TIME
  • Ohio State Form I-20 or Form DS-2019 (Note: if you have an active immigration record that is being transferred from another college or university in the United States to Ohio State, please also bring your Form I-20 or Form DS-2019 from your previous school.)
  • Form I-20(s) or Form DS-2019(s) of your dependents (spouse and children), if applicable
  • Student Record Form (Be sure to download, print out and complete this form before arriving at check-in and to bring the completed form with you. Remember that "Last Name" refers to "Family Name" in the United States)
ONCE YOU'RE HERE, GET INVOLVED!
One of the goals of immigration check-in and orientation is to provide you with information on university requirements. These requirements include the mandatory health screening, placement tests, how to pay tuition and fees and other items. However, in addition to helping you organize these required tasks, we also wish to provide opportunities for you to make new friends and feel connected to the Ohio State community prior to the start of spring semester.

With this in mind, consider some of these academic and social opportunities during the upcoming weeks:
