Since 2005, the Academic Career Workshops (ACW) have been providing uniquely tailored professional dev elopment experiences for underrepresented ethnic minorities and people with disabilities on how to successfully climb the academic career ladder.  Mentoring activities are critical for successful promotions in the professoriate. The workshop features panels of diverse senior faculty and representatives from industry and government agencies. 
 

The ACW Workshop is organized by the Center for Minorities and People with Disabilities (CMD-IT) in collaboration with AccessComputing, and the Computing Alliance for Hispanic-Serving Institutions (CAHSI). The workshop is made possible by a grant from the National Science Foundation. 

   
Senior Doctoral Student, Post-Doc, and Assistant Professor Sessions:

    • Launching a Research Program
    • Effective Teaching
    • Networking
    • Proposal Writing
Associate Professor Sessions:
    • Case Studies for Promotion to Full Professor

    • Participation on National-level Committees

The deadline to apply for ACW 2017 is Monday, February 13th.  We invite submissions from ethnic minorities and people with disabilities who are senior doctoral students, post-docs, and assistant or associate level faculty in computing. Please share this opportunity with your networks.

Workshop Application & Scholarships
 
All workshop attendees will receive partial scholarships through the support from the National Science Foundation. Scholarships are available with priority given to the following underrepresented groups: African-American, Hispanic, Native American/Native Hawaiian/Native Alaskan, and People with Disabilities.  We invite assistant and associate level faculty, post-docs, and senior doctoral students in the broad area of computing to submit an application Scholarships cover meals and lodging for the workshop.  If you are selected to attend the workshop, your Department Head/Department Chair will be contacted about providing financial support for your travel to the workshop.
