A Tangible Opportunity to Love the Homeless!
Last Sunday as the Ekklesia Church met together for worship, Tim Blair represented the Homes For All committee in downtown Port Orchard and spoke with hundreds of people about our ministry to house the homeless. There are so many opportunities to share Jesus' message of love and mercy everywhere in our community. We sometimes assume that the message must be delivered on Sunday morning from behind a preaching podium. What would it be like if we invaded the community and spoke about sharing with the needy and blessing people in venues wherever the community gathers? If a car show is scheduled or a downtown carnival is planned we could be there to share our message. The message behind the Homes For All committee is about sheltering the homeless. As believers in Jesus we should be the ones leading the way and invading the venues where our community gathers in mass. The message of blessing the homeless is a gospel message that calls all followers of Jesus to participate. Let's take advantage of these events and become the light in our community. "Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." Matthew 5:16

Cottages For the Homeless
Over the last few weeks several businesses and churches have stepped up to partner with the Tiny Cottage Village project. Tim has discussed with the local regional manager for Kaiser Permanente about their desire to build three cottages on their three Kitsap County clinic sites in the month of September. Ekklesia construction contractors will be actively involved with leading the Kaiser employee volunteers. What a blessing to participate in this ministry that will connect us with many people in our community.

1. Grace Bible Church- cottage build party
Saturday- August 19th
On Saturday, August 19th, the Grace Bible Church was to begin the construction of two tiny cottages in their parking lot. This has changed, though. A young couple from their church walked up to their pastor Ken a few weeks ago with a check for $4,000.00 to pay for a cottage or two. So, this Saturday their church will partner with Ekklesia Church by constructing three new tiny cottages to house the homeless. This will bring our number of constructed cottages to nine completed to date. We have been so blessed by other churches, service clubs and large companies who have chosen to partner with us to build this village for the homeless.

2. Kitsap County Fair- Cottage #6 on Display
Wednesday- August 23rd - Sunday, August 27th
The Kitsap County Fair will be held on August 23rd through August 27th. During this time the #6 cottage will be on display at the Fair Grounds. Several Homes For All committee members will be on hand to provide an information booth during the fair. The #6 cottage is which is parked at the Central Kitsap Presbyterian Church on Nells Nelson Rd. has now been painted by the church and will be moved on Friday morning to the Kitsap County fair grounds.
