Volunteer at the Luau
The Luau is made possible by a creative and enthusiastic group of committed volunteers working behind the scenes, and we need additional helpers to make the event a success. If you'd like to help out, August 21 from 3:45 - 6:00 p.m., please
email to sign up.
Volunteer at Hillview
Hillview is a community-supported school - not just with money but with time. Our volunteers contribute hundreds and hundreds of hours of time that save our school, and our district, literally thousands of dollars, and free up time for our teachers and administrators to concentrate on what is most important: educating our children.
To be able to continue to offer our students the most innovative education in a supportive environment, we need each family to contribute 5 hours of volunteer time per year. There are dozens of ways to share your time with our community - in a classroom, on campus, or from home. Would you like to co-lead your child's academy? Can you serve hot lunch once a month? Chaperone two dances, or a field trip? Coordinate a special event for a teacher via email from home? Fill out our volunteer questionnaire
here or contact
Hillview's PTO Volunteer Coordinator,
Nancy Witeck, and she will help identify a meaningful way for you to help!
Hot Lunch Volunteers
We are looking for volunteers to serve Hot Lunch to students. It's a 45 to 55 minute commitment at lunchtime. Sign up for once a month, twice a month, weekly or more! Each time you help serve lunch, you earn a free LunchMaster lunch for your student. Sign-up here.
Service Team Volunteers
Come by the volunteer table at the Luau for
volunteer opportunities, or e-mail here.
- Service Team Leader or one of two Co-Chairs
- Helpers for specific Drives
- Relay for Life Chairman, May

Introducing our new superintendent, Erik Burmeister
Welcome b
ack to school! I hope you are enjoying the last few days of summer with your families bef
ore the excitement of the First Day of School is upon us. I am experiencing my own first here in MPCSD, too, as I begin my journey as your superintendent. I know many of you already, but for those I have not had the pleasure of meeting, I'd like to introduce myself. This is my sixth year serving the Menlo Park, Atherton, and East Palo Alto community, having been Hillview's principal for three years and assistant superintendent for the past two years. I am also a part of the parent community here as my son is in the district. One of the things that most impresses me about our community-funded district is the collaboration between parents, teachers, staff, and administration. It is such a joy to serve in a district where we all have the same goal - providing a world class education to our children - and we continually work together to achieve that goal. Whether you are a new kindergarten family, or this is your last year of many in our district, I extend a warm welcome and hearty thank you for everything you do to make our district the special place that it is. I look forward to partnering with you, meeting as many families as I can, and seeing what amazing things we can continue to create together. Please reach out to me here.
Menlo Park City School District Parent Education Speaker Series

Events include inspiring and educational talks by Sheryl Sandberg, Michael Gurian, and other experts, as well as opportunities to hear from and interact with city, district, and school administration. Check out event descriptions and the full schedule on our website
here and mark your calendars! All events are free to the public and held at the Hillview PAC. Free onsite childcare and pizza is available for potty-trained children. Snacks and beverages provided for attendees.
