CLAYTON, N.C. -
Robert L. White, age 83, went home to Heaven on December 18, 2016, while in the company of his six daughters.
Robert was preceded in death by his father, William White; mother Stella Barr; stepfather Ralph Barr; his loving wife Linda; and brothers, William, Wilbur, and Bernard White.
Robert was born in Akron Ohio, attended Wadsworth High School in Ohio, and served in the U.S. Army overseas during the Korean conflict. He married Wanda Kuhn in 1956. During his 20 year first marriage he was a loving husband and father to his daughters Julie, Bonnie, and Susan.
Robert served the community of Wadsworth, Ohio, as a Police Officer, Volunteer Firefighter, and City Safety Director. He enjoyed a career for many years as the Personnel Manager and Safety Director at the Barefoot Sole Company in Wadsworth.
Robert was remarried in 1979 to Linda Holben and was blessed with three more daughters, Christy, Amy and Tammy.
Robert relocated in 1989 to Kinston N.C., to open Alside Window Company where he was the Personnel Manager. He was actively involved in the American Legion, the VFW, the FOP, and his churches, Grace Lutheran in Wadsworth, Bethel in Kinston and C3 in Clayton. He valued spending time with friends and family and was an avid supporter of charities for children and disabled persons. His family and friends will always remember him for his sense of humor, his smile, and his encouraging words to others.
Survivors include Julie and Bob Wayman, Bonnie Dorr, Susan White, Walt and Christy Eubanks, Amy Sprague, Jeremy and Tammy McLawhorn. He had nine grandchildren, Jacob, Sam, Austin, Tyler, Luke, Colby, Kaylee, Chase, and Lily.
A celebration of his life is scheduled for today, December 21, at 3 p.m. at C3 Church in Clayton N.C., with Pastor Chris Pipes officiating, with a reception to follow. To celebrate Robert's life, you may sign the guest book at
