World Views

You'll be hearing another voice delivering the local news headlines, weather forecasts and traffic information on weekday mornings -- Brian Hardzinski will be leaving KGOU on Jan. 4 and moving to Boston to join the production staff of WBUR's program On Point.

We wish Brian well in his new endeavor but we will surely miss him; his work has been an integral part of the growth at KGOU for the last decade. Brian has had many different roles at the station, beginning as student producer of Assignment: Radio, joining the full-time staff in 2009 as operations director, and then in 2014 becoming local host of Morning Edition and digital editor. KGOU news director Jacob McCleland will be taking on early morning hosting duties the first week in January.

Diane's last live show is Friday, Dec. 23 -- the final hour will be devoted to listener calls and messages. And 1A has its social media pages ready for following on Facebook and Twitter, a good way to see upcoming topics and share your thoughts.

Korva Coleman delivers a newscast

The names are familiar -- Lakshmi Singh, Korva Coleman, Jack Speer and others -- but do you know what it takes to report the news 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year? NPR Ombudsman Elizabeth Jensen's office took a look at how the newscasts come together. Check out that story and more peeks "behind the curtain" in our blog:
