Happy New Year from the staff at FCC!  May God bless you in the new year!

Message from Greg
First, my family and I would like to say thank you for the 'love gift' we received from the church during the Christmas season.  We are grateful for your generosity.  Nancy and I are thankful to be able to serve as pastors of this wonderful congregation.  Thank you again for your many expressions of support not only at Christmas, but throughout the year.
On a different note, we are beginning a new year and that means that many of us are making plans or setting goals for the future.  A number of you will be making resolutions as 2017 begins.  That usually is a good news/bad news kind of exercise.  The good news is you are looking forward with hopes and dreams for the future and you are expressing that in resolving to do a list of certain things.  Now for the reality check or the bad news.  It is widely acknowledged that most of those resolutions will be broken within the first two weeks after they have been made.  According to researchers virtually no one keeps or even remembers their resolutions after a month has passed.
So if you are going to make a resolution this year let me suggest one from Theodore Roosevelt that doesn't involve making a list of things to do: "Do what you can, with what you have, where you are." And I would add, with Jesus Christ, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith, as your guide!  That is a resolution worth remembering and keeping.  GOD BLESS YOU! AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!   Peace,  Greg
Scripture of the Month
Ecclesiastes 3:1
There is a time for everything , and a season for every activity under the heavens:
KAIROS
John Prewett
It is that time (chronos) of year when we turn the calendar to a new year.  We can look back at the past or contemplate the future.  What experience would we change if we could?  What experience do we want to hold fastly in our hearts forever?  The latter speaks to KAIROS.
Last Advent, hopefully, we all experienced (kairos) time.  That time in which we were lost in the awe of God's gift for each one of us.  It is the time in which we cry out with joy for the love sent to us in the presence of Jesus, The Christ.  Here at First Christian Church, there are many ways to experience kairos.  Get involved in Gods work!  Get out of your box! (Remember Peter getting out of the boat!)  Give of your God given talents, time and resources.  Go to a bible study or prayer partners.  Share the "Word of Truth" with others you encounter.  Give back a portion of the love in which God has extended to you.
Lastly, many thanks for the cards, comments, prayers for me and my family in the loss of my mother, Rosalee, on Wednesday prior to Thanksgiving.  They have given me GREAT comfort.
