New & Arrivals:

Casale del Giglio "Satrico" 2016, Lazio, Italy, $21.99
A blend of 40% Chardonnay, 40% Sauvignon and 20% Trebbiano Giallo grapes. Previous vintage rated 92pts JS; this vintage not yet rated. We tasted it Wednesday and were wowed by its classically Italian crispness, medium weight, minerality and variety of citrus and more exotic fruits.
Casale del Giglio Bellone 2016, Lazio, Italy, $19.99
A grape variety cited by Pliny the Elder and present in the Latium region since Roman times. The Bellone grape is vigorous and resistant to drought - a guarantee for wine quality and balance - while its plump, golden yellow, thickskinned grapes hang in elongated, cone-shaped bunches. The persistent sea breeze contributes to the over-ripening of the grapes while a high concentration of both sugar and acidity lead to early maturation and the highlighting of the wine's pronounced mineral notes. This wine is fuller, and weightier - more likely to please the Chardonnay drinker, with its creamier texture.

Hess Allomi Cabernet Sauvignon 2014, Napa Valley, CA, $29.99
"This full and smoothly soft wine blended with 10% Petite Sirah, 7% Malbec and 3% Petit Verdot is aged in American oak, a quarter of it new. It pleases in bright red currant, cassis and wisps of blackberry, both approachable and sophisticated. Velvety black licorice meets smoky campfire on the finish." 91pts WE
Seven Hills Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley 2013, WA, Reg. $31.99 , Sale $15.99 - Half Price!
"The aromas of cedar, fresh dark berries, thyme, garden herbs and flowers provide instant appeal, with woodsy accents following. Lively plum and raspberry flavors back them up, with fine-grained tannins and barrel accents speckled throughout." 91pts WE
Seven Hills Merlot Columbia Valley 2014, Reg. $27.99, Sale $13.99 - Half Price!
This vintage not yet rated - previous vintage 90pts WE
Basel Cellars Claret 2012, Columbia Valley, WA, $16.99
This vintage not yet rated - previous vintage 90pts WE
Casale del Giglio Cesanese 2015, Lazio, Italy, $22.99
This variety hails from the Latium Province of Frosinone, once inhabited by the ancient Volsci tribe who conquered the town of Satricum in 488 BC and ruled supreme until the Romans established a colony there in 385 BC. Casale del Giglio's version is full of personality with dark berry fruit, earthy/smokey notes and a hint of anise. It is medium-full, with good structure. The winery recommends serving it with a buffalo stew, but it should pair nicely with many hearty dishes.
Falesco "Montiano" 2012, Lazio, Italy, $51.99
"The 2012 Montiano sports a new design and front label that is cleaner and minimalist in personality. That doesn't change the fact that this is one of the most historic Merlot-based wines in Italy that put Lazio wines on the map. Riccardo Cotarella had set his sights on great Merlot from his home turf, that lies on the Lazio and Umbria border in central Italy. This vintage is especially plump and opulent and signals a slight evolution in the winemaking style of this historic wine. It feels more elegant and streamlined thanks to the purity of its aromas. Black cherry, blackberry, Indian spice, dark chocolate and pressed rose petal come together in seamless fashion." 93pts WA
Carlisle Petite Sirah "Palisade's Vineyard" 2015, Napa, CA, $61.99
"Another monster in the making is the 2015 Petite Sirah Palisades Vineyard (15.7% alcohol, 580 cases). This is no ordinary Petite Sirah, but then, few are. Nearly black as a moonless night, the wine's aromatics soar from the glass, offering up floral notes intermixed with blackberry, incense, blueberry liqueur, graphite and licorice. Huge intensity of flavor, sweet but noticeable tannins, low acidity, but fabulous richness, and a broad, almost endless finish characterize this Petite Sirah that should age well for 30-50 or more years." 91-94 pts WA, also 92pts WS
Carlisle Zinfandel "Mancini Ranch" 2015, Russian River Valley, CA, $57.99
"The 2015 Zinfandel Mancini Ranch is 85% Zinfandel and 15% mixed black varieties, and a whopper at 15.8% natural alcohol. The vineyard dates back to 1922, which makes it another vineyard planted during the middle of Prohibition. This is a meaty, Provençal style of wine, with loads of Mediterranean spices, peppery notes, some allspice and lots of black cherry and blackcurrant fruit. It is full-bodied, powerful, and will be bottled unfined and unfiltered, as most of these wines will. Drink it over the next 7-8 years." 88-90pts WA
