A Special Presentation
Amy Shepherd, Vice President of John Wayne Enterprises and the Executive director of the John Hamilton Archives, will talk about photographs on exhibit in the Central Library on Sunday, August 20 at 2 p.m. in the Central Library Friends Room.. A visual presentation will accompany her lecture focusing on the rare images in the John R. Hamilton Collection. John R. Hamilton was a photojournalist who achieved fame as a special photographer on films. He worked on some 77 films, many of them epic westerns starring John Wayne. His photographs herald back to the golden age of Westerns and evoke a sense of timeless grandeur. The John Wayne exhibit will be at the Central Library until September 5.
A Public Forum
The City of Newport Beach Arts Commission is seeking public input on submissions for Phase III of the Sculpture in Civic Center Park Exhibition . Artists submitted artworks last month for consideration in a temporary exhibition at the Civic Center Park. On Wednesday, August 23, City and arts leaders will gather to discuss which sculptures are best suited for the Exhibition. Selected sculptures will be prominently showcased for two years in the heart of Newport Beach in Civic Center Park.
Cultural Arts Grants
The Newport Beach City Arts Commission invites arts organizations offering cultural arts programs for Newport Beach residents and visitors to apply for 2017/2018 Newport Beach Cultural Arts Grants available through the City Arts Commission. The deadline for applications is September 29, 2017.

Cultural Arts Grants will be awarded to qualified arts organizations with strong projects that enhance arts education and community programs for the citizens City of Newport Beach. Applications and instructions are on the Cultural Arts website under Cultural Arts Grants.
